Just in case you have been trying to get hold of us through tassiesup@gmail.com in the last few days, we have had some technical issues that our IT department has been working hard on, but to no avail as yet, so you will need to email us through seabreeze until this problem is rectified.

That sounds good
But what about tag teams of 3
from each club.

We would get teams from Penguin,
Burnie, Lonnie, Park Beach and etc.

Whichever way will be filthy .. especially
if you put up good prizes for us
to take home.

There is no Launny team that I know of.
Burnie/Penguin/Smithton at this stage only.

We would get at least these teams then ..
Burnie/ Smithton/ Penguin/ Park Beach

I do have buoys .. How many would you like ?

Also .. Re: Welcome BBQ Friday
We don't want to rock up to Pelican Sands to
find that the management are
unaware .. and unprepared .. to put up with
a bunch of free-loader BBQers.
What I'm saying is that permission must be obtained.

Other than that it's all too easy.

I think we need 3 water buoys and possibly 3 beach markers.

Maybe we should cause a ruckus at the resort seeing as they cant put a meal on ??

Been chatting to RR about what actual demo boards will be available to try over the weekend other than privately owned boards !!! I know the Tassie Starboard trailer will be there with boards for beginners to experianced paddlers - Ive heard about a 9.2 coco pop from gsi - anything more that you know of 2mt ?
Oh - I did hear that you and RR are making available your JLs and Fanatic for demo purposes ?????
Id would be nice if Naish could supply a little Hokua or similar (not that Id ride it - it would be a nice sentiment though)

Ive heard also there will be a number of 2nd hand boards for sale over the weekend - are you selling your pro-wave ?

I don't know if we could field 3 teams from
down south .. unless we mabe up the numbers
with long boarders .. give them wooden spoons
as paddles .. is that allowable under the rules ??

Can you enter on the day - depending on the weather?

As far as I know - no, you cannot. The weather has no bearing on the comp' - if it's too dangerous it will be moved - if its too small, it will be moved or just run regardless.
Are you bringing your Bic sups for demo - I would love to test one in a decent beachy like Scamander rivermouth.

Surfing tasmania are running the competition and have said that entries will close on the Wednesday prior to the event as they need to know how many entries they have to be able to seed the heats.

We're having a comp .. but the comp is only a small part of what it's all about.
What it's all about is getting together and enjoying our chosen recreation/sport.
Part of the enjoyment is social .. part is passing on skills and making industry
contacts .. for industry it is meeting the punters and displaying their wares.

So we put this event on .. costing time and money .. and without profit .. all
surplus funds go into the prize pool .. which will be shared around .. and all
the organisers ask is that all attendees pay their comp fees.

What a farce it would be if we all decided to enter on the day subject to the
weather .. we're not talking sheep stations here .. but most industry traders
are happy and have made their contribution and commitment up front ..
regardless of the foibles of waves/weather/plague/fire and famine.

I feel a lot better now.

Calm down. Other comps take entries on the day, so was just asking.

I'm taking up two new Coreban boards, a 9'6 and 9'. Bic are (I believe) bringing their bamboo surf SUP's into Australia later in the year. The bamboo boards are for more high end users.

I might take a 10'6 and 9'6 Bic Ace-Tech also. I haven't attended a meet in Tassie before and am not sure of the ability of people attending. What do you think?

you will be going to find anyone with more ability at bull****ting anywhere in the country, but as far a sup ing ability you will have to make up your own mind

The ability of the people attending to contest the state title is, as one would expect, fairly high.
There will be some novice sup'ers including family members who will probably be keen to try boards in flat water or open water out of the wave zone.
There will be some people freesurfing throughout Saturday who havent entered the comp' and more freesurfing and surfrace on Sunday.
I would imagine people will be wanting to demo boards both days and probably moreso on the sunday morning.
You do not need to be a surfingtas member for the surfrace and there are no entry requirements other than needing a board 10ft or under.

Glad you like it ET, you will receive so much more respect when you show up at the beach in it and don't forget your "TassieSUP Discount Card" is accepted at all good SUP merchants globally, just choose your product front up at the counter and show your card and I'm sure you will be surprised at what they say
