Not to sure how scones cook on a BBQ?

I think you can use a "Dutch Oven" on a BBQ to cook scones.

That sounds great
That

be a good spot for a welcome BBQ.
Is there a BBQ facility that outsiders may share
with paying guests?
We, the crem de la crem, are staying at the
resort hotel .. but we would be very pleased
to join you if we can be accomodated.
BYO everything ... can you confirm that it's OK
with the Pelican Sands management .. please ?

never tried to cook scones in the bed but a good Dutch oven sure can generate some heat .

Is that a south Tassie traditional meal

Moving right along ..

The Carlton Rivermouth Superbank
was going off yesterday and today.

Only three out .. all SUP's

All current TAS SUP title holders

Skeghead #1 wave rider
2MT #1 over 65 all events
Cruisen #1 surf race (but dudded)

Laying down the foundation for a
strong Southern contingent.

Riverider was at work waiting for
the new JL Qwad to arrive .. will surely
be competative .. but will the hard
yards of familiarity be done in time
to win the the grand prizes ???

We arent part of a board-riders club RR. As far as I know none of the sup'ers up here plan on joining either. We have started to get a small group of like-minded souls together who seem to like just getting together for a few waves and a bit of social activity and thats pretty much as organised as we need, or want to be.

As far as I know - no, you cannot. The weather has no bearing on the comp' - if it's too dangerous it will be moved - if its too small, it will be moved or just run regardless.
Are you bringing your Bic sups for demo - I would love to test one in a decent beachy like Scamander rivermouth.

Surfing tasmania are running the competition and have said that entries will close on the Wednesday prior to the event as they need to know how many entries they have to be able to seed the heats.

We're having a comp .. but the comp is only a small part of what it's all about.
What it's all about is getting together and enjoying our chosen recreation/sport.
Part of the enjoyment is social .. part is passing on skills and making industry
contacts .. for industry it is meeting the punters and displaying their wares.

So we put this event on .. costing time and money .. and without profit .. all
surplus funds go into the prize pool .. which will be shared around .. and all
the organisers ask is that all attendees pay their comp fees.

What a farce it would be if we all decided to enter on the day subject to the
weather .. we're not talking sheep stations here .. but most industry traders
are happy and have made their contribution and commitment up front ..
regardless of the foibles of waves/weather/plague/fire and famine.

I feel a lot better now.

There will also be plenty of surf and non-surf (flatwater) activities for those who arent competing in the surfing event, including BOP & flatwater fun races as well as demo boards to try.

I believe Tassiesup may post a list of demo boards available to try, in the near future. I do know though that there is a good range of 2013 sups that will be attending the weekend so it will be a great chance to see the latest offerings from all the major brands.

There will not be a 7.10 at Scamander as far as I know. In sure "what sup boards" or "jaysails" would happily sell you one.

Hope you are right - but not sure what performance boards are in the state at the moment. I will have a 9.8 and 9.0 Starboard at Scamander but dont know of any sub 9' sups coming.

Talking performance boards .. There were three out at Park Beach Mecca Bowl tonight.
I was on my JL 9.5 noserider .. hanging 5 .. soul arching .. drop kneeing.
Bruce was on his GSP 11.0 .. learning to paddle .. falling off .. cursing.
The other was an eski lid rider enjoying the glass-off .. 20*C temp .. barrell rolling.
Then out of the car park came a 9.3 Fanatic Pro .. fast down the line .. turning inside out ..
.. board 360's .. taking the best wave selection.
I thougth that here was a guy who'd come to audition for the Southern Team .. me being
a selector an all .. and he rated a short listing so I thought an interview .. on the water ..
would be appropriate.
Asked him if he was free for the Tas Champs at Scamander .. said he might have to go to
Tahitti but he expressed remourse at having to miss such a great surf spot .. I said yea
Scamander is good but where do you come from? .. he said Burnie, am just down wisiting
me mate .. I thought these Burnie guys are good .. we don't stand a chance .. I even
offered him a club hoodie .. but he wouldn't sign .. Turned out to be Kyron.
If Tahiti falls through there's a good chance we'll see him at Scamander.

Similar story here a few weeks back . Couple of blokes out in 2-3 foot slop struggling to get a wave . Kyron has turned up on that same board and tore it to pieces . Hitting the lip , sending out some massive spray .

Hope he turns up would pay the entry fee just to watch him do his stuff in decent surf

STOP PRESS

Tassie's big wave chargers are
interested .. could be a few at
Scamander.

They're starting to look at SUP
as another viable means of paddling
into sizable waves .. like Shipsterns.

I can't even think about it .. I can't even
watch it on TV .. I like the Carlton River
super bank and that's good enough for
me .. whatever turns you on.

Anyway the interest is building.

Certainly the industry sponsership
that we're getting is encouraging.

Next year the TassieSUP Winter Classic
looks like having a big naming sponser.

I think it's building up to be something
special.
