Ah fair cop.
Three of my students aged 16 got their shots today were back at school in some classes of mine. Of course i didn't say anything because its their parents choice (and theirs presumably) plus none of is can be certain either way - and if you think you do - you havent looked into this enough.
just saying it was weird - Weird times.
I do hope though we are doing the right thing, given the push to take this experimental "vaccine", and now to our children.
Still can't go past data out of Sweden.
There were 150 16-17y.o. that made it to intensive care throughout the pandemic.
I don't have any individual data on these kids but in the interim it's reasonable to assume that a high percentage had a confounding illness, some would be obese, a handful would be premium athletes, and a couple would've copped a high viral load and Some really bad luck.
For most kids, my math suggests it's not right.
For vulnerable kids, it's really cool that there is something available already.
Also Sweden are not vaccinating under 16s unless they are high risk because there is no benefit which is a fair indication that their math aligns with mine.
As an aside, can you imagine the government employing a confounder based risk stratification policy on these kids. Line up kids. Ok fatty, to the left you get the jab. Sorry miss Wendell, your son is slightly underweight to be considered high risk, maybe force-feed him for a week and come back.
