It's funny how the human Mind likes to dichotomise the binary choice of pro vaccination or anti. I suppose it's easier to take a tribal side and wave the physical Or metaphorical banner.
What about those like me that are not anti vaccination at all but are more afraid of the bigger picture. That is, if controlling powers can limit a subset of the populations rights through a vaccination mandate then what's next? For those that have read history in depth there are some very worrying implications well beyond covid and vaccinations.

Hah! I generally ask someone to provide some info as I suspect most times people just forward stuff on and say 'see' without actually having viewed or read it. In this case, its probably true too. It almost seems to be a rule with some people.

Its not a problem though as yesterday I just put the headline into Google and came up with the following:

This idea of consuming narrative is a great one. Anything you don't agree with can be 'narrative' and you must be a sucker for going along with it. You could make a case for the world being run my lizard people with that logic.

I wonder where this will stop with no compulsory vaccines but employers requiring it to ensure a duty of care to their other employees? Then there's the health care sector where they have a duty of care to their patients as well. Would they insist that the spouses are also vaccinated?

I was watching something this morning where some doctor pointed out that even if you choose not to be vaccinated, the virus will circulate in society and you will get it at some time. Which makes sense. If you can have it when vaccinated, but not really be affected by it yourself, then you will keep passing it on and all the unvaccinated will be exposed.

I guess over time people will see whether the vaccines are dangerous or safer than they thought and may end up getting vaccinated.

Is it pretty normal that a vaccine creates an immune response that is similar to what the body would see if exposed to the target virus?

AstraZeneca are selling their vaccine at cost of production until the pandemic is over. Where's the profit motive?
And even if the companies made $100 per person vaccinated wouldn't that be money well spent? I know I'd rather see the government spending $750M to vaccinate the 7.5M people in NSW than to knock down and rebuild a 20 year old football stadium in Moore Park

Astra is the pepsi of the vaccine world. Its not just the vaccine itself it is the clever foxes in their holes responding and influencing government policy and directives. Think bigger man, there is a far greater and more complex picture unfolding

but a good point about government money allocation. In the end it will have to come down to economics. The corporatised global chain economy will need international and domestic movement in goods and services to resume before too long. Hence one could surmise that one might as well get vaccinated as the choice to not to will taken from most.

No that's not it, but if you had something like "I don't understand the science or the math, but I'm going to repeat the party line anyway because THOSE people are wrong I just know because the government told me so" you'd be a bit closer.

I guess you need to start from a position of understanding that lockdowns do more harm than good. But that's difficult. No-one is broadcasting the devastation brought.....hang on, this isn't heavy weather, I deleted the rest of my essay

That's something we will never know. We can stand around and say the current lockdowns are much worse than 'normal', but do we have an option of normal? We don't know.

The closest I can see to that is to watch the UK and see how their opening up performs. It will tell us a lot. They have much higher rates of vaccination, but maybe it will show us if we are able to try and resume 'normal' in the future.

Its very easy, especially here in WA, to assume that there is no pandemic. Its pretty good here at the moment, but would that still be the case if we just forgot the precautions and didn't look to how we handle it in the future?

P.S. it's good to see others deleting some of their posts... I have sometimes typed something out and though its not the best way to have a decent conversation and deleted it.
