Started work on replacing main hatch and rebuilding the cabin top and internal timber work adjacent to the hatch. Was damaged by a very slow water leak permeating from the main hatch into the grain of the plywood. Not really visible until too late.

Getting some inspirations to paint soon! It's going to be suede reds,whites and glossy timbers!







I also ran a AV cable 10 meters from my GME DVD /CD surround system to the big screen!

Good on you selkie, you beat me to it, I've been meaning to get a personal epirb for the same reasons.
I had the misfortune recently of snapping the mast, cutting the obligatory few inches off torn metal off it and re stepping it myself, and it wasn't an exercise I enjoyed.
Meantime, back to sanding...sigh..

Yes, my mast stepping has been a long time coming. Have been waiting for my acqaintance boatbuilder (ggrrr ) to finish beefing up the bulkhead and mast step areas to prevent compression happening again. Deck turned out to be pretty flimsy indeed...frighteningly so. At a later date, will put in proper grown-up boat chainplates to further support this rig.

Just keep sanding.....

I think I might need a new cutless bearing.


And of course it is pissing down with rain!!!!

I reckon she is one of the best looking S&S 34s around. The larger rear windows aft break the straight lines of the uniform sixe windows on most of them.

What is the hull number out of interest??

Thanks Cisco, its funny at first I wanted the uniform square windows lilke all the other S an S 34s and even planned to modify the cabin to fit smaller rear windows because that was the image of what I wanted and because i thought the large windows might be a weak point in a knockdown. But now I'm glad I stuck with the original configuration and I fitted 12mm lexan rear windows just to be sure.





I powder coated the old aluminium frames and although they did not come out with a perfect finnish I thought the kind of imperfect finnish was a nice effect.

I did all the prep, highbuilds and the undercoates and I had the local shipright to the top coates. after i watched him a few times i did the hatches and the instument binnacle/ hatch cover myself. The total labour costs for the topcoates and the cabin was less than $700 so It can be a cost effective way to go.
The paint i used was international perfection. its great because as it drys it shrinks and pulls all the brushmarks out.

She really has come up a treat! And no spraying!

I'm on a tight budget so will need to do all the prep work myself as well...ah, next year :(

Are you going to fit a rang hood HO2? This was on the boat I'm guessing it's a caravan model it leaks when it rains and I genauarly don't use it as like my cooking smelling through out my vessel!
