Good to hear the Pines delivered for you today Oliver.Big Left seems like a good place to avoid with the weekend crowds, although have seen some sups throughout the day down there on the surfcam.
Gave it all a miss today after a late finnish to work Friday.
Will head out tomorrow, hopefully find some leftovers somewhere.

Camo.

Tide and wind/swell look allright (nothin special really) for Thursday.
I'm gunna hit Pt Danger around low tide at 10.00am. Im a newbie
so the conditions might suit me.

Most of the time theres a small wave on the cosy corner side of pt danger breaking in different spots depending on the tide/swell and good for a muck about.
Looks like being a good day for a paddle anyway Planesailing,
Cheers,
Camo.

We've just had a big spike in swell with period increasing as well. Looking good for massive swell tomorrow but a bit scared of the wind forecast. Camo is heading down to Western Port and I might join him if the wind isn't too bad.

Anyone else lloking at getting waves in Vic tomorrow?

8m swell forcast... I've been looking at it all week - unbelievable. I'm heading to Red Hill for a looksy but I'm too scared to get wet. If I was going to get wet this w/e it would be at Eagles Nest - for the strong NW - SW winds.

Hopefully it gets massive. I might end up regular surfing at Merricks.
Otherwise I might be pole boarding in the bay somewhere.

I am thinking that it might be "impossible" to get a wave if you know what I mean

and the usual 7000 closest friends wont be there due to the size!

Sometimes was working tonight just before dark.

Also Roadnight?????

Possos could be good earlier and Roady super early cos of tides. I'm still thinking winds could be way too gnarly for most spots regardless of the direction.

Any Vic guys keen for a surf/paddle Saturday morning I'm thinking of going to Pines early (6:30ish) for like an hour then paddle up to Lefts & Rights for some more waves. It will most likely be pretty small but should be fun.

Wind forecast differs a lot between sites at the moment so as it gets closer we can make a more definate decision. The forecast wave period is really long which should make for some good clean straight waves.

I'm keen even though the forecast shows possible rain and wind as we get the edge of that front coming through but The Pines should be protected.

btw it's not light till about 7am..

Weather forecast is getting better but swell forecast has dropped a bit. If it is tiny we can always hit up Big Left but i'd prefer Pines or L&R's. See what happens. Anyone else keen?

I don't get access to transport until 8:00am Sat so don't think I could get down there until 9:00am, which isn't that great with the 5:30am high tide. Unless.... someone can pick me up?

I'm looking at heading down there early Sunday when the wind and tide look a little more more favorable.

Looking good for tomorrow morning! Winds lightish offshore at Pines and good long period ground swell expected to peak Saturday morning.

I'm still keen to paddle up towards Lefts & Rights once the tide drops a bit and if enough swell is getting into the bay.

Must say looking good on your side as well Rich!

I'll be there... also maybe Jonathan will turn up.

Oliver, I'd pick you up on the way except I'll be leaving from Ringwood and it's double the distance to go back and past your way.

Hope to see all you guys down there.

It was a great day.. You missed a good one Oliver (sorry to rub it in)..

I got there soon after 7am and the sun was just coming up and it was a mild 9 deg.

I looked across and the guys were already out.. Cam, Bren and Paul (SHQ).

It only looked small but there was the odd big set rolling through.

We paddled up to Somers.. Not because it was anywhere near Somers.. but because it was near Daryl Somers house (Hey hey it's Saturday Daryl)..

We found this secret spot (well it was a secret to us) and it was awesome.. Heaps of long rides and only us out..

Cam with his 9'6" Surf shapes board.. Bren with his Oxbow 9'6".. Paul with his 9'3" PSH and me with my Naish 11'4" Battleship Galactica..

We swapped boards and had a ball.

DJ

btw..

I saw one of the most amazing things that I have ever seen walking into the water and looking out to where the guys where.. Over their heads I see this meteor or falling star shooting across the sky and burning up as it dropped towards the horizon.. It was daylight.. it was as clear as.. and it was this beautiful bright pale blue'ie green color.

I paddled over to a surfer that was waiting for a set and said did you see that and he said yes.. How cool was that.. The guys missed it because they were probably looking back towards me.

Sorry to break the news DJ, but that doesn't look as good as it was down at Point Roadknight this morning. From your message, it sounds like the day panned out pretty well for you guys and you got some bigger stuff. I do love the dawn sessions though - I got to do some more of them this year.

Had a fun session this morning with DJ,Brenno and Paul.I decided to get down there and in the water super early having recently read an article about a bloke that hits the water an hour before dawn, they call him Marspial.
So when Brenno rolls up and you can see the wave as you drive in[during daylight that is]he thinks I'm having a sleep in the car until realising theres a figure amongst the darkness floating around at the lineup.I was hoping he'd leave the headlights on across the break as I couldnt see a bloody thing but I did manage to catch a couple only to find a submerged rock with my kneecap.Couldn't see above the water let alone below.
Anyway later on we swapped boards,
I've seen Brenno ride the 9'6" Oxbow in choppy ,windy conditions and after a go on it I rekon he's going to be the first bloke on a 5'11" SUP.
Then had a rest on DJ's naish ,good to cruise around on and soak up the scenery.
The PSH 9'3" ripper I was happy to succcessfully catch a couple on this, has loads of performance feel to it and just being on a board thats so far from the 11' barge I started on in January was great.
Then it was time to get the surfshapes back,,I'm fully stoked with this board.
Cheers,
Camo.

Saturday arvo looking VERY big but most probably left over strong winds. Fingers crossed!

Sunday morning looking amazing! Slight decrease in swell from massive to huge, abating winds. I know where I'm going. It will be damn busy though! PRK

I'll be heading down somewhere quiet in Western Port on Sunday at dawn - I'd expect with that sort of swell there should be enough waves for everyone.

You never know I might get down to Western port. If you go head to Zapper point the next point towards flinders from the Pines. We found it works pretty well on the lower tide but still breaks good as it gets deeper.

I'm almost sure I'll be down the west coast though!

Brooko, before you tell us all and show pix next week of where you surfed I'll tell you now that I wish I was down your way! It will be absolutely firing!
