Now between the Port Phillip Cup and the SHQ Ceribus event we have more than enough races, now lets get some surf events on the calender.

I know there are a bunch of Mal events on throughout summer in Vic, how do we become a part of this? I wouldn't know where to start but am keen to get some SUP's together in the waves.

Maybe we could start with social gatherings at various locations, lets say West Coast, Western Port, East coast, Inverloch Bar and the Island. Lets set some dates. We could even look at forecasts and set a location the Wed or Thurs before that weekend.

Anyone keen?

Count me in. I'm staying in Inverloch from 27 - 31 Jan so Inverloch or Philip Island would be good option for me then.

I'm keen..

Maybe west coast one week and east coast two weeks later and have an event every two weeks through Summer..and as we head into Autumn the conditions should get better and better.

Phillip Island is also worth considering because of the huge amount of sheltered from the wind and wave options.

Yeah the island provides lots of options. Kilcunda through to Inverloch area and eagles nest can cater for all winds as well. (Inverloch bar this Sunday at 12pm onwards looking good - due to tides, wind & swell)

Even the eastcoast & 13th will be good spots for a gathering as there are always so many banks that it makes it easy to find a slightly fatter one with no surfers.

I'll get a calender out and post some possible dates tomorrow.

Hmmmm.... give me a day to think about this one to see how it pans out. Inverloch is convenient for me on the w/e. pm me your name (I'll feel like a dick pronouncing Bnaccas over the phone) and your digits and I'll let you know. I've looked at the area between between Inverloch and Cape Patterson hundreds of times over the years and would really love to get down there and experience the surf there.

Hey Oliver I did a ride along the 'mini great ocean road' not long ago.. The stretch between Inverloch and Cape Patterson and here's a few pictures.

Here's looking out at Inverloch and the waves in the far distance past the inlet.

There are lots of spots along the way to Cape Patterson like this.. We had a great windsurfing comp here once (low tide and no waves this day).

The road is fantastic now.

This would be a great spot.. I think it's called Eagles Nest.

Don't worry about me.

It's a great piece of coastline.

Imagine this spot on a good swell.

Getting down to the beach may be a problem in some areas.

Some spots are easy.

Cape Patterson is one of my favorite spots.. There is a great bomi that breaks out off the point here.

Ant just past the Cape there's Kilcundra (sorry about the spelling).

Anywhay..... Sorry about the hi-jack.. Back to talking about the surf events.

Eagles Nest is great. Mid tide onwards with at least 6 ft+ on the beachies and it starts working good. You can surf it with winds anywhere from N to SW.

Also forgot to mention, went to SHQ SUP demo day last Saturday in the rain! It was at Crunchies and swell was only about 1ft. They had about 8 different boards to try from a Naish Glide down to the Naish 9'6" plus a Waldon, new Southpoint and a few more. I rode the 9'6" Naish for about an hour. Even in 1ft I could get the board to turn really fast. This board goes great. There were 8 poeple on the water and eveeryone had fun.

Luke told me they are planning them monthly now with the next one scheduled for the 17th of Jan. We could make this one of the dates.

That's great news Matty.. Any idea what month..and who the main sponsors will be.

A comp at Bells Beach should bring some international SUP'ers.

A down-winder from Bells to Fisho's would be a hoot with a group also.

This weekend it's looking like a sup down in Inverloch for the low tide at midday, which is just under a two hour drive from the city. Anyone else who is keen to join in the fun can pm me or Bnaccas

Hey Rich, I only just saw your post. I'm always keen! It can't be hard, if we just list a bunch of dates and then decide on a location 3 or 4 days out then off we go. Also if it's not a "comp" then no liability issues or hassles with council etc. Just a bunch of guys on big boards havin fun!

Also Dave or whoever would know, would a WV membership cover us for liability on a SUP? For some reason I thought we were covered for any accident on the water?

As for Inverloch this Sunday, models have updated and swell might be a little small but I'll have another look tomorrow and make a call. Everything else is looking good but the swell. Swellnet thinks there's a bit in it so fingers crossed. If it is too small Kilcunda area will be good or Surfies Point on the Island. I'll update tomorrow around 3ish.

(Putting grip on my new board tonight - looks pretty damn good!)

And what a great morning it was in Inverloch, Bnaccas. Clean waist high waves, 5knot off shore winds, and that thing in the sky we haven't been seeing too much of this summer - sunshine.

Look forward to the next adventure. Bnaccas was ripping on his 10' new oxbow and we met another guy there Max who was doing pretty well for his third or fourth go on a sup on an 11' NSP.

What a day! I counted 15 waves and then called last wave probably about 7 times before I got out of the water. In 2 1/2 hours thats better than a wave every 7 minutes! The Oxbow went very good for a first surf. Lets hope for many more sunny days with little or no wind and plenty of waves.

OK...we are hitting the water again for a post Xmas SUP Surf.

Boxing Day - Kilcunda area will be around 2ft to 3ft with low tide early.
So if ya keen get down there at around 8am. I was down there last week and
there is heaps of banks around. I rekon park at the bridge car park and we
could maybe paddle down along the beach picking up waves along the way.
** For those who don't Kilcunda is about 1:10 drive from bayside area.
Who's keen?

Sunday 28th - I'll be in the water. Stay tuned for details.

Cheers & Merry Xmas

I think you'll find that the traffic on Boxing Day to Philip Island is completely clogged up. Last year it was bumper to bumper from Grantville to the turnoff to the island - luckily I was coming from the other direction. A good idea would be to take the turnoff to Koorumburra/Wilsons Prom and then head to Wonthagi once in Koorumburra.

Uderstand but last year I left at 7am and got there in no time. I rekon if you left around 9am or 10 you could get held up but 6:30am when I plan to leave should be all good. I have 2 mates keen at this stage plus anyone from here.

Hey Rich, Yeah I think I will end up down your way.
Did you get Roady last night on low tide? It would have been mental!! Even a late session tonight will be good.

I'll give you a bell if I'm coming down.
