Thanks HG, I've dug out all the remaining balsa, so now I'm planning to laminate a composite "coosa" panel to the undersise of the foredeck. this should end up being stronger than the original balsa and at least I know it wont rot.
The worst thing about this job was the dust, i sealed off the area but still it took a couple of hours to clean up the dust from cutting with the angle grinder, not looking forward to doing the side decks!
Ive been doing the dust thingy for 18 months ,Andy every time you do some thing there a lot of time cleaning after maybe a day each time .
I spent the afternoon shaping this anchor winch deck plate ready for epoxy tomorrow shaped it to the deck and also in line with the anchor chain once it goes off I can drill through the deck and mount the winch . But I still want to fit a marine ply support under the deck for added strength should also be sorted by next weekend.
