correlation is not causation
high performing athletes have heart attacks and strokes etc.
an aortic dissection not long after the jab does not mean the jab caused it.
They do Mark. However the occurrence has increased in proportion to the increase in excess mortality.
Why?
More major heart failures in top performing athletes? Is that your claim?
Pete posted that one athlete had an aortic dissection a couple of days after the jab as if that is proof. It isn't.
Is ONE person and it correlation not causation.
Now if you can show me that heart problems in professional athletes went up with the jab, then Pete has something.
My point is ONE high profile case does not show anything. I mean, today I had my first toastie sandwich in almost a year and I feel great. Are they health food based on my 'reaction'?
Please cite source (scientific research, not a yoochoob) that shows statistically significant increase in pro athletes dying or being farked after the jab.

Not everyone has the ability to delude themselves
Yeah, but does the majority of the population really know anything? The average layperson will not know much more than stories that they have heard.
In my social group, almost no one is anti-vax, so are they the exception? The problem with your analysis is that you are looking in places where only these sort of people will respond, so it may not represent 'the majority of the population' even if all of them are anti-vax. Which reminds me of when my local council in Sydney would do their polls at the local supermarket around midday on weekdays... You got a certain type of demographic and hardly anyone else.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kit_Cunningham
Kit Cunningham was an odious individual for whom I harbored an unhealthy hatred. For far too long.
He did not abuse me. He investigated my abuse by one Brother Bill Jackson. My abiding memory of him was him saying to me "Woe betide young man if you ever say anything about this again". I didn't. Not for forty years.
He is a lucky man. I worked in Charing Cross Road for a year which is not far from St Etheldreda's. Had I known he was there at the time I'd likely have ended up with a prison sentence.
I did get to see him before he died. The Rosminians paid for me to fly to the UK. I'd expressed a desire to speak to both him and Bill Jackson after they had asked if there was anything that they could do to appease us. A friend had kicked off an alumni site in 2005. As the connecting numbers from the diaspora grew so did the whispers. A good friend and I coordinated the people who wanted an apology in 2009. I was privy to material written by twenty-six blokes and gob smacked when I found out that Jackson was not on his tod. Especially so when I learned that Cunningham had gone on to abuse kids for the rest of his tenure which amounted to another six or seven years. And that two other individuals were also involved.
This was a small school with around one hundred pupils and seven staff. That is unhealthy odds!
I spoke to Bill Jackson at St Etheldreda's. After giving him a piece of my mind I received an apology and was asked for forgiveness. He told me he had been abused as a child. He was quite obviously a raving queer, not particularly bright. But repentant. He was by this stage a Father in the order but was confined to premises and forbidden to say mass. My feeling was that he was genuine. He was only twenty-one when he was at the school and was very popular and a breath of fresh air in comparison to the other abhorrent individuals. Anyway, I told him he was forgiven after making sure he understood the damage he had done.
The following day I went to speak to Cunningham at the Catholic Hospice in Battersea. I'd been warned he was not well. It is difficult to describe the state he was in. He was confined to a wheelchair. He had had a fall and had three broken fingers. There was a half empty bottle of whiskey on the table next to him. He looked like the Michelin Man with half the air let out of him.I'd had a mind to really let rip on the cvnt. When I saw him my first thought was that karma had got to him first. His whole world had collapsed around him. He came from a family that had an established reputation for excelling in ministerial excellence. His reputation was in tatters.
So that was it really. I let him know what effect his presence had had in my life but I could not bring it on myself to do any more damage to himself than he had already done to himself.
The whole experience was quite cathartic. It was a significant step toward repairing myself. Looking back, I would not have it any other way as the whole process, as odious and painful as it was, has eventually led to an enduring sense of peace which I do not believe I would have achieved had it been any other way.

I think we will continue to post this ad infinitum and it will continue to be an impenetrable concept.
Oh and congrats to Remery for managing to stay out of the sin bin for a record innings.![]()
I dunno Fangman. You did post a chart showing the decrease in Covid deaths since the jabs came about. Let's all just be kind.
I am not sure I understand the implications of your post correctly. I tend to be lacking in the ability to read be between the lines sort of stuff. Moving on, in the theme of the thread and critical thinking and deficiencies thereof; the lack of any consideration for 'Confounding factors' is where I reckon some of the problem arises. Good research details and reviews the impact of confounding factors via statistical analysis etc. Without it you can just about prove a relationship between any two variables if you try hard enough.
Bonus Content for the scrollers: as Remery has mentioned, one of the keystones of science is that claims can be examined, tested and retested until all the mistakes, ego, money/ulterior motives, outliers, etc are exposed. By its very nature it's not perfect, not linear in its advances, but it is ultimately self correcting. It is not a belief system because it relies on facts, not the frailties of human nature, nor the quality of the memes or clickbait. Here endeth the preaching from the pulpit of rationalism. ![]()

Nowhere in the article does it state cause of death.
It just suggests that it was likely cardiac related.
"Many children who face sudden death have genetic mutations can cause heart or seizure disorders, among other ailments"
Also nowhere in the article does it state whether he was vaccinated or not (one of commenter claims he had to be able to play sport, but that is not the case)
Vast majority of commenters state:
- Must have been the vaccine
- This is happening so much more today, this was so rare in the past
Both comments do not reflect data available.
Kids his age are not dying suddenly at greater rates.
The article didn't even claim he was vaccinated, however maybe he was in minority who had been (less than 50% kids under 12 have even had one vaccination).

"Critical thinking is a kind of thinking in which you question, analyse, interpret, evaluate and make a judgement about what you read, hear, say, or write. The term critical comes from the Greek word kritikos meaning "able to judge or discern"."
The highlighted parts would be a good start for Psychojoe.
Consider the quite specific notes made by the Ourworldindata people....
" To understand how the pandemic is evolving, it's crucial to know how death rates from COVID-19 are affected by vaccination status. The death rate is a key metric that can accurately show how effective vaccines are against severe forms of the disease. This may change over time when there are changes in the prevalence of COVID-19 and because of factors such as waning immunity, new strains of the virus, and the use of boosters. This page explains why it is essential to look at death rates by vaccination status rather than the absolute number of deaths among vaccinated and unvaccinated people."
Why do we need to compare the death rates between vaccinated and unvaccinated?During a pandemic, you might see headlines like "Half of those who died from the virus were vaccinated."Based on this headline, it would be wrong to conclude whether the vaccines protect people from the virus. The headline does not provide enough information to do so.Let's think through an example to see this.
Of 10 unvaccinated people, 5 died ? the death rate among the unvaccinated is 50%.Of 50 vaccinated people, 5 died ? the death rate among the vaccinated is 10%.We, therefore, see that the death rate among the vaccinated is 5 times lower than among the unvaccinated. In the example, we invented numbers to simplify calculating the death rates. However, the same logic applies to the current COVID-19 pandemic. Comparisons of the absolute numbers, as some headlines do, make a mistake known in statistics as a 'base rate fallacy': it ignores that one group is much larger than the other. It is important to avoid this mistake,

rightly so
They don't mind yelling out anonymously online. Remember the newspaper poll where about 50 percent of respondents claimed to be unvaxxed.
But they do make a lot more money out of masturbating. Remember, their unvaccinated status makes their man juice liquid gold. Apparently.

What is disturbing is the health impacts of prior COVID-19 infection.
"In a tweet posted hours after the video, Macie provided details about his analysis, including two screenshots from the data source. These showed that Macie's calculations relied on the total number of "visits to the provider", including hospitalizations, ambulatory visits, and reportable events. However, an increase in the number of visits doesn't necessarily reflect an increase in the number of diagnoses. Instead, it might result from other factors like changes in medical protocols or health-seeking behavior (for example, an increase in medical visits following pandemic restrictions). Moreover, a single patient can make multiple visits to the clinic, so the number of visits doesn't necessarily reflect the number of actual cases. In fact, the number of visits is likely much larger than the number of cases. Macie's analysis didn't account for these limitations."

When I post personnal (sic) comments I get banned. Best to stick to facts, data, analysis eh?
The pedant might suggest that if your personal comments contained facts, data and analysis you might avoid the problem entirely.
I'd not heard of Raheel Farooq. Google tells me he is a 21st-century man living in Pakistan, who delves into the intricacies of human existence through the lens of his perceptions of philosophy, literature, religion and science. He has a keen interest in the ongoing dialogue between religion and science and is author of a book titled "Why I am a Muslim: And a Christian and a Jew".
Interesting you are a devotee of his. I had understood your many posts on these very forums to be quite derogatory of the religous and that you held a firm belief that science and scientists are infinitely superior (both intellectually and morally) to those who follow doctrine and believe in God(s).
Perhaps I have been mistaken in my understanding that interest in where (and how) philosophy, religion and science overlap and how each has it's own very important and rightful place in our lives wasn't your flava.
Perhaps Raheel Farooq will follow up with a sequal to his book titled "Why I am a Muslim: And a Christian and a Jew and a scientist" just for yourself ?
(also would you put a capital S on scientist in that context of book title or not ? I couldn't decide and would hate to get a another black mark for spelling or grammer).
best regards
