I am excited about upcoming semi finals.
Stoked to see it's not a one or two horse race.

I thought wankers when the eels slid over for a try. Was feeling justified in my pre match prediction and was already counting my ill gotten coin......**** it did not last for long.

On a side note,I know the eels fan would be feeling pretty let down with Ricky supposedly breaking his contract to head to the raiders on a 7 year deal.....at one million a year. We'll I would be stoked,he is the worst coach in the nrl and should have stuck with Anderson or Kearney over that knob head.

THE season of Newcastle prop forward Kade Snowden is almost certainly over after the NRL match review committee offered him a seven-match ban.

Snowden was hit with a grade four charge for his charge on after North Queensland?s Ray Thompson which left the young hooker with a broken jaw.

Thompson collected the full force of Snowden?s right shoulder in North Queensland's 26-6 win in Townsville on Saturday night.

The basic penalty for a grade four is six weeks with an early plea. But due to the points loading from two previous offences this year, the former Australian Test front-rower must serve seven if he pleads guilty tomorrow.

If the 26-year-old decides to fight the charge, he would land nine weeks on the sideline. With only six weeks left of the season ? two rounds in regular matches and four weeks of finals ? that would mean Snowden would also miss the first three weeks of 2014.

On Saturday night his coach Wayne Bennett said that while Snowden had no intent in his tackle on Thompson, it was ``obviously reckless?? and worthy of a send-off.

Cowboys skipper Johnathan Thurston told a Sydney radio station yesterday that he wanted Snowden ``put to the sword?? and made an example of because of the gravity of Thompson?s injury.

``They brought the (shoulder charge) rule in to prevent these types of injuries, to help player welfare,?? Thurston said.

Snowden spent two weeks on the sidelines in July for a dangerous contact charge, after he lifted his knees into Penrith defender Adam Docker.

In April this year, Snowden was hit with a careless high tackle charge on Gold Coast utility Luke O?Dwyer, who also suffered a fractured jaw.

Thompson had surgery yesterday to have a metal plate inserted in his jaw. The Cowboys hope he will can make it back for the past week or two of the finals ? if the club, currently in eighth position, makes it that far.

Newcastle is currently in seventh position on the NRL ladder and destined to play finals football.

But they will be without Snowden for Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium this Friday night and Parramatta at home at Hunter Stadium the following weekend.

The Knights are expected to welcome back forwards Willie Mason and Jeremy Smith from injury. But Snowden?s hit-ups and metres will be sorely missed.

As for the Cowboys, Thompson had made the No.9 role his own in the past six weeks and was playing 80 minutes nearly every game.

Former Melbourne utility Rory Kostjasyn, who interchanged with Thompson on occasions, is expected to take over the hooking role.

But Cowboys coach Neil Henry said he would also look at Anthony Mitchell (Mackay) and Scott Morre (Northern Pride) moving up from Queensland Cup to help share the load.

The only other player to be charged from weekend matches was Canterbury backrower Frank Pritchard, who has been given two weeks for his front-on hit into South Sydney centre Bryson Goodwin.

Goodwin lay on the ground stunned, but did return to the game and even scored a try in the second half.

Pritchard will not play for the Bulldogs again until the finals ? the club is sitting fifth. But if he decides to appeal the shoulder charge, he would be given three weeks.

The leg- lift, or "scorpion" tackle by Bulldogs Tim Browne on Souths fullback Greg Inglis attract no penalty. Neither did Warriors five-eighth Thomas Leuluai sliding towards Titans winger Kev Gordon as he headed towards the try-line.

Ok,he got his jaw broken, but would snowden receive 7 if it, wasn't. Pritchard was just as brutal. And watching the snowden one he had no intent, imo it was just reckless. No excuse but 2 weeks compared to 7 come on that us stupid.
By all means protect the players head, but ask any fan or any player and they will say bring back the shoulder charge.

I think I saw on the news that Cartwright could only name 13 players for the weekend at this stage. He said something about not playing games just a lot of injuries. Titans have had a tough year that way. (Broncs have under achieved for their list...)

No need to wait until the finals a couple of cracker games coming up.

Manly v Storm on Saturday night - "The Battle of Brookie"

Easts v Souths last round - should decide minor premiership.

I can recommend a team to follow for the finals if you need. Ted will back me up on this

Dazzler,
Both games will be huge.
100k on the line for minor premiership in Souths vs Roosters game.
Also the winner should play Manly instead of Storm in first semi.

No chat about the Canberra incident? Surprised. I wonder who will be next.....they are saying he is co-operating hoping to get a 75% reduced sentence. Otherwise he could be gone for life due to the supply charges. Big week this week......down with the Bombers, Sharks looking poor and now a Canberra player done for issues whilst at Penrith......it seems that everywhere Stephen went a bad smell sure did follow. Things could get ugly.

Who put the 'h' in Sandor anyway ?
Wanker he is.
Watch him squeal like pig on the rest for a reduced sentence.
Currently looking at 4 years to life.
It will get worse before it gets better.
I think ASADA is struggling for evidence but when or if it gets it, watch them drop like flies.
He is a bit unlucky with the 'trafficking' offence as it sounds worse then it is.

So you nervous then? 4 bros should get you over the line.

Some weird odds this w.e - why are Manly so long ag Melb? At Brookie? Weird.

Weiry - I am with you.......throw the book at them. Send a clear message - yes Scotty it will get worse before it gets better s- should make for some interesting excuses and heartfelt interviews looking for redemption - they will not find it if they come looking my way.

Ted, @ 18-0 I knew we had to score next.
That's what I was more nervous about.
With the spray Maguire just gave the boys in the sheds, I expect a different Bunnies side in 2nd half.
