That loss is good for Bunnies.
You need a wake up call around this time of year just to remind yourself you can be beaten if you don't aim up.

If it makes you feel better Scotty. Go the dragons yeeew

Mate, Dragons scored good tries at the end.
They deserved the win.

Scotty - comp is won on first Sunday in October - not half way through July - this also applies to Roosters!!

I agree that the comp is won in October.......BUT I think its total crap to say that a team needed a loss...its bullocks. Its a crap excuse for playing poorly thats what I reckon.

Ted, Ted, Ted, spoken like a true Manly supporter.
I don't recall using anything as an excuse.
Are you still getting over Manly's worst performance in living memory in GF qualifier vs Storm last year ???
I stand by my comments as I have seen it before.
If your team goes into semi's with a 10 game winning streak you are goooone.

I still calling bullocks Scotty. Yes yr sentiment maybe echoed by history but if you can honestly tell me that those blokes at Souths (who are now 2nd on the betting ladder to your second fav team the Roosters ) walked off on Monday night happy that they lost as it will make them better then I think you are sadly mistaken. No one wants to lose. Anyone who says that crap is just full of it. Does Rafa Nadal want to lose a tennis match so that he can be better prepared to win the French Open? Does Tiger think that losing makes him a better player? Does Slater like losing (not that he does very often).......

And by the way this has nothing to do with Manly - who may have whipped those blokes 40-0 a few yrs back in the GF - when did Souths last win anything? Or have they been too busy losing hoping it will make them better in a few decades time

Sorry my response is so long

Ted, we are on slightly different wavelengths on this topic but it's good to discuss all the same.
Firstly, my mention of Manly was naturally tongue in cheek (which runs a distant 2nd to TIB) so let's brush that aside.
Secondly, I never mentioned the players would think they are better for the loss. The sole aim is to win every game. The coach would never admit a loss is a good thing. Depending on the mindset of a team, a winning streak of say 10 games will breed over confidence and complacency. One or both of these can be detrimental to a team's success at the 'business end' of the season.
Question: Would you prefer Manly to kick off semi finals undefeated (I.e won all 24 round games) ????
Let's agree to disagree on this one.
Btw, the Roosters as premiership favs is another good thing for Bunnies. They are off the radar and the challenge is now for Roosters to handle the media hype and expectations.

Professional sports people hate losing... Personally everyone of the players would be pissed....

But does a loss help a team perform better? it does IMO, you learn alot by losing, I'm sure our cricketers will learn a lot getting their arses kicked and in time that will make them better....

Well that's what I'm telling myself....

I wouldn't call it galvanising BUT let's say ironing out a few kinks.
I said the same thing when we lost to Storm 17-10.
To beat the Storm by 20 pts would not be a good thing.
To just lose by 7 pts and know deep down you are close to the benchmark drives you to work harder and bring out the best in your team.
I know you think I'm crazy and you may be right.

Yes. I think they will anyway - its just the amount that they pay him that is the issue. He needs to save face and they need to stop how bad things are coming out in full public view as it will cost a lot of them their jobs.

I reckon it will be a classic case of.........ACB & Mickey Arthur reached a confidential settlement today. Both sides are happy with the outcome. ACB have said that MA did a great job as coach of Australia but it was time for a change and MA has thanks the ACB for providing such a great work place.

Or something like that

on the money there Ted. Took 30 years for me to see a premiership and I'm happy. As for buying a premiership,no I do not follow manly so am unsure where you are coming from. we bought a good coach and have lost a lot of players, which I'm very happy about.

Weiry when your team is hot and looking good you get this buzz through you thinking this is it. Then they choke and lose you would rather a wooden spoon it hurts that much. Just trying to help you so when those feelings hit you, that you are well prepared

Ted, if you get the Daily Telegraph today, turn to page 116 and read article titled
Lockyer: Loss may yet help Souths.
Here's one quote from the article "Rabbitohs needed to remember what it's like to lose if they are to go on and win their first title since 1971" says Lockyer.

I do not read that rubbish Well not since they put a pay wall up - happy with my Australian subscription from News - do not want to give their so called biased journalism any more of my hard earned

Of course Lockyer would say that - he has grown in league circles where they have been told to think like that My point stands - I do not think you have to lose to win - simple - and I think its cop out when the players and coach who are in that team say that. If DL wants to say that from an observation point of view then thats fine - but anyone associated with Souths who says that is speaking bullocks !!!

If you lose this weekend what will they say?

Ted, nobody from Souths has said anything about the loss being a good thing or used it as an excuse. All teams play to win.
Even if they think the loss is a good thing, they would never admit it.
My point is a team can learn a lot from a loss and best to learn now then in semi finals.
The current team, although on top of the ladder, have a few players who are still finding their feet IMO.
They are not the Storm who have dominated for 6/7 years with seasoned top notch players.
If they lose tomorrow night you will hear me screaming I promise you.
