Double Island Point an sunrise yesterday. The Moreton Bay mud footprints are courtesy of cleaning a dirty anchor well, grrr, I should run a hose up to the anchor well for this exact reason. .


I've been wanting to try and do a panoramic shot with an Iphone after seeing on Seabreeze some cool photos with it. The NW wind made anchoring up behind the Point really rolly, and warning! An IPhone needs to be apparently stable to the earth to make it look good. I was panning slowly to the right and the little line looked like a crazy drunk I was rolling so much, it was absolutely impossible to hold the phone straight enough.
This photography stuff I really enjoy, but I'm not naturally good at it. I need to get a good boat camera.
Not my best picasso moment, need one of those gymbal thingys next.

Noticed yacht beached just to south of jumpinpin . Looks very recent and she seems in very good condition. Dont know how long the (looks near new from colour of canvas) furling headsail ,main etc will last

Thx mate, You certainly live in a pretty part of the world. Is the reef line jamming where it turns 90 degree at the boom?
And did you see what yacht is it in the pic that ran aground ? Looks like a decent size, and a good looking boat to boot?

yep, I'll replace saddle with cheek block.
Thats all I could get of beached boat without dropping sails and going closer.

How many Lions were there then?

So that would be Lion Island off Middle Head in Broken Bay where Pearl Beach is nes't pas? Nice spot.

This island bears an uncanny resemblance to Lion Island, who knows what this island is?

Sailed out to the GBR Yesterday, it took 3 hours from Stonehaven Anchorage with a 130 degree deep reach. Moored at the Steeping stones for a couple of hours, then motor sailed around Bait reef and up into a designated anchorage in behind Hook Reef. Needs a bit of caution in there, I am sailing solo so it is tricky looking over the bow and controlling the boat. I found some sand in 8 metres. Spooky anchored there when the tide floods over the reef, it was blowing 18 kts but was flat until the high tide. Next day I was happy to sail back, I was happy to be able to re-trace my track back out into open water.
plenty of breeze, 18-21 apparent and held a 40 degree tight reach back, smacking along at 6-7 knots. After negotiating the flukey winds in the passage between Hook and Hayman, I decided to carry on to Airlie, an enjoyable sail.


Plenty of wild life out there
Not a bad sunset to enjoy a beer with, I was totally alone!.





Sorry I can't work out how to rotate the photo, this was some solo kite work before I went out to the reef.
