The 12.50 shares the same hull as a Class 40. Vacuum infused, 26mm thick.
Structures have never lost a rig on a 40 or 12.50, and they're all CF.
A 12.50 did a 2700nm cruising race in 10 days 20 hours.
Lots of reports of sustained 20+ knot runs.

Why wouldn't it survive a 400nm attempt?

I got 14.5knts Max down the east coast of Tassie in 20 to 25 knots in my old Dunc 37 what where you doing Shaggy dragging a bucket?

everything bagged out as far as it could go, minimalist rags up, no sprit sails, angles were for Nav not speed. We weren't going for speed, we were out to settle the boat and the crew in. Baby steps...I'm more than happy to get the miles in first, speed later!

If you took your Pogo out in the Southern ocean where I have been all weekend working with a gale warning 3 meter swell 2.5 cross seas you would only be doing 4 knots to save your yacht and possible 15 knots surfing waves running for cover !

In a real gale in a real ocean it wouldn't be safe to fly a hankicheff in that flat bottom girl with 40 to 50 knots! unless your French!

That is why you are getting a fantastic pay off with Fusion. I am sure she will handle whatever you ask of her.

Even Joe Adams said that the faster a yacht hull is, the safer it is. If I was in the chips I would have a Pogo 12.5 before a Benny or Jenny any day of the week.

Re the yacht in LCs post doing 27.8 knots. If it is the one I am thinking about it is an alloy built bare shell with just enough fit out for the couple that sail her to be comfortable and has a ketch or schooner rig so as to reduce the size of individual sails to make it easier to handle.

It was specifically designed and built to be a fast passage maker easily handled by the elderly couple that sail her. Below the deck house where they live is a bare shell except for engine, fuel and water tanks. No guest cabins, no luxury saloon, not even any lining.

Quite a brilliant concept really if you want to make fast passages.

Don't have any doubts Shaggy. You have got the right boat for what you want to do. Lydia obviously knows and nobodies opinion is relevant until they have experienced sailing on her. Speaking of which, when is it my turn????

So while you are there, if you want a great night out with food, drinks and great music, go to the Brisbane Jazz Club which is just next to the ferry landing at the Story Bridge. You can just about see it from where you are.

Thanks for that link FreeRad. It seems they have fitted her out a bit more since I first read about her. The article confirms what I said about having the long hull for speed and the shorter rig with broken up sail areas for ease of handling.

It is easy to see though that with that big deck house there would be enough space for a couple to live comfortably and leave the rest of the hull bare.

We were heading out on Sunday as the forecast looks magnificent and I was going to pm Now and Zen to come out whilst he is visiting, but now I have to work all this weekend....grrrrrr.

Sat out a bit of a rolly night with 8 other yachts at Double Island Point waiting for the tide to get over Wide Bay Bar this morning.
Out of 9 yachts here, 6 are catamarans - I bet they didn't roll as much as me for most of the night!

33knots TWS at 130 TWA....20 knots SOG, fingertip helm, trying not to bury the nose.

I do like your yacht shaggy however I'm happy to just cruise at 6 to 7 in 10 to 12 knots upwind with the Cat Myself and a leg of lamb sizzling away in the oven! We don't like getting all wet!
