I believe it is a positive step, which was definately needed. But still as a relitive newcomer to this sport i will not be going to kite at St kilda any time soon. Although you are upwind of the beginners, with my skill level it would not be long until i find myself in the middle of them.

Thats some of the impact there. To me this suggests if you re not a customer of a school then tough. Having said this I d like to remind everyone that this agreement is not binding. Feel free to come to St Kilda and kitesurf mate.

Finally, I do applaude everybody that have been constructive and succesful in achieveing this aggreement even if I do suggest its out of balance a bit. Its a hard nut to crack and frankly I have no other suggestions that I think would solve this. Other than use common sense and be friendly to each other.

Hi Guys

I sat in the meeting and it felt like a fair compromise. Beginners have to learn and this means we have some organisation to make sure both can co-exist. At the end of the day it means the beginners are confined to one area where we know where they are which makes things easier and safer.

No one says you have to come in at the top and disect yachts to get there, there will always be beginners (who are not going upwind) who get taken downwind and come in where the vegetation starts so thats also a landing zone. It just means that its preferably that you don't come in between a whole lot of people bodydragging which is probably not the safest thing to do either.

On the downside, there will be compromises from kiters, like the douche bags who like to kite through the beginners and body draggers and do their jumps and turns right next to shore (to show off to the one woman on the beach who actually couldn't give a ****) won't be able to do this anymore but hopefully this may help them realise that actually talking to women and not beating their chests like apes are probably more appealing anyway.

I ve been out a couple of times since the agreement and I d like to feed back the following:

Schools are doing lessons pretty much at the spot where non-schools are supposed to launch. This in fact means that we d need to go another 50 meters upwind to be able to launch. Thats not possible.

I suggest that the schools do not teach too close to the launching spot which in turn allow us to launch safely in good distance from schools.

Other than that its all good.

Thanks for the feedback but (as requested at the meeting) please tell this to the schools as they are not forum-friendly and dont check Seabreeze.

If you cannot do this in person while there, please use the email addresses listed earlier in the discussion thread.
