Apparently a 4m Great white was caught in the nets off North Cronulla this week. They do not like to publicise this information so as not to scare people. I have seen the net crews on Coolongatta last October turn their boat away from the beach as they pulled a 12ft shark from the nets so people in the units and the beach could not see.

Uber, the GW of Botany Bay is muted to be Cyclopes, the one eyed beast
in from boat harbour. As you know, he made the news eating a pelican & a labrador. Now if it was a golden labrador , I 'd think you're safe, however, if it was a black labrador, you're rooted L.O.L.
the similarity not just in looks but personality are uncanny.
As for Salvatore visiting, I'll keep the violin case handy for the "Testa Dura" , Im visiting the mother country may & june 2007.

Now Jarvis Bay, see the biggest mother of a tiger shark close to Collingwood beach, Young Matty R & I kited there, Uber you would be a tasy morsel for this mother. So Jervis is hardly a safe haven for a
labrador maybe the rspca need a volunteer guide dog. Woof woof l.o.l.

Cheers

A terrifying attack left former pro surfer Jodie Cooper with bone-deep cuts in her hand, yet she's disarmingly nonchalant about her first run-in with a shark.

"I just went 'OK, I'm being attacked by a shark,' " Cooper, 42, said the day after her brush with death while surfing off South Golden Beach, near her home in northern NSW.

"It's just like I've been bitten by a big dog, just down to the bone on two knuckles, and then about 10 teeth lacerations up my hand,"

"I was ****ting my pants"

www.smh.com.au/national/ok-im-being-attacked-by-a-shark-20070322-gdpqab.html

I had a close encounter on the weekend too, I was snorkelling, looking for a couple of abalone, dove down and stuck my head in a crack in the rocks, felt what I thought was kelp brush against my chest. When I surfaced my buddy pointed out the huge Wobbygong that had swum under me and given me a nudge. Cool looking beast, glad it didn't want a taste test.

That's it.
Saw my "real" shark kitesurfing 2 days ago.
("Real" as "not fantasize".... Cause we all "think we saw something" pretty much all the time... At least, I know I do whether I admit it or not!)
Better than seeing it, I actually rode over it....
I saw those weeds floating (so I thought "oh, some weeds floating...") but as I was 1m from them, I saw a fin hanging out... I suddenly froze and even though I was about to go straight over it, I didn't seem to think of slowing down or turning around. Or anything, really.... All I could think was " oh ****... it's a shark...".
(which makes me realize my brain is quite an unreliable material when it comes to.... being sensible... Lol... (but that will allow me to slightly edify my story later on :"you know, I saw that fin hanging out so I just thought I'd get as close as I could to check what shark it was, you know, just out of curiosity!"))
As I was about to collide with it, the poor tiny hammer head got scared sh**less and swam away like if he had just seen a monster... ( he probably did...)
Even though it was tiny, I must say I didn't feel that comfortable for the rest of my session... Especially after I spoted a half eaten... something floatting around later on.... (It's the second time in a month I see a devored unidentified animal floatting in the water within 100m from the shore... but devored with such clean teeth impact in the flesh it doesn't leave much option to the identity of the author.... lovely...)
My conclusion of this amazing encounter is that I don't mind knowing they're here... I'm just much happier not seeing them!!!! (I jump better too...)
Even though... Got to say.... Gosh they're pretty!

Have seen a few strange shadows now up and down the coast, some moving and some not, and even ran over a odd squishy bump which didn't float and gave a wriggle to the rear of my board, however had my best viewing last weekend, shape of the head clear, fins, contour down to the tail, around 6-7 feet, only about 1 foot wide at the most....gets the heart going quickly....they were there before I was, so what can I say!!! If your times up, it's up. Enjoyed the rest of my session, though took it fairly easy while out the back...didn't feel like being a lure, body dragging through the water. Can't imagine a shark ever chasing me while on my board....

May be... But we like freaks!
In the meantime, I just had a ball with this thing! (yeah, there's no wind and no swell...).
Too bad now I'm dead... (I'm no good at jumping over sharks... I'm better at simply running straight over them...)
PS: Uber, I reckon your mojo is somewhere up north... At last, that's where I just found mine back! (there are sharks there too though... but the water's warm.... and the wind on!)

Hi, Chris from Carnarvon here just like to tell a funny story that happened to us last week, i took half a day off work last week to surf a break an hour or so out of town, on driving down toward's the cliff to view this left hander my mate, Simon and i could see alot of fish activity in the water ie tuna jumping and flock's of bird's diving into the water like they were on fire, we paddled out like normal and being a lumpy messy swell we had the place to ourselve's about an hour or so into our session and the bird's getting closer every few minute's we noticed the tuna school or so we thought they were tuna started bubbleing around us it was like someone was throwing grenade's in the water it was starting to get comical how close these fin spash's were getting to us untill a set rolled in and like you see in the postcard's were a couple of dolphin's are gliding through the wave's werent dolphin's or tuna were shark's not just one or two but four wide and three deep and the spash's that were an arm's length away weren't tuna like we had previously thought were in fact shark's, we were surfing in a shark feeding frenzy ther must of been upto twenty splash's at once on the surface and who know's how many shark's underwater( Kinda glad in away it was overcast.)but therewas nothing to big, nothing over five to six foot that we say anyway, after a few more wave's the shark scenario was a good excuse to paddle in (Nah it really the **** surf ha.)we drove home went to work and had god story to tell.

Original of the above from feature in Sept 2005 issue of "Africa Geographic". The sharks were definitely real but passive at this time of year and wouldn't even eat meat of fish thrown in front of them, ....can't remember why but risk minimal.
