i've tried getting into pubs and clubs with my backless shoes but the ignorant bouncers think they're called thongs for some reason and won't let me in.

Your kidding me?!?! Obviously the naming police have infiltrated pubs and clubs working undercover as bouncers, what next!!!!!
I'm going to try and get in with my sleeveless shirt.

Now now USER you are starting to sound a bit Steverish, or should that correctly be referred to as a Steverism.

You guys are pushing the sleeveless shirt thing without understand the implications of what you are saying. Don't you know that in order for this to qualify as a sleeveless shirt, it would have to be made by Cabrinha? If its made by any other company its just a vest!

Before you ask, no, cabrinha did not copy this vest from Adidas, they were looking for a way to make it easier for kiters to kite without arm restrictions and they came up with the design from scratch. That fact that it looks like a vest or the vest made by Adidas is irrelevant, its a shirt not a vest!
And for you disbelievers, Andre Phillip will only be wearing sleeveless shirts for kiting in future which proves these are as close to a shirt as you can get, so they actually qualify as a longsleeve shirt. (P.s. if you see him with a full rashvest, its only because he is cold, its not because he doesn't believe in riding with sleeveless shirts.)

How about you just call them straps because thats what they are. Just because you have the same size feet as a 6 year old girl and they feel like they cover your entire foot doesn't make them bindings.

Yeah but my feet are beautiful and dainty are they??
And I am not calling my feet, hands, even though technically they are almost identical in construction, so be kind to me o I will use the humungous Sword of Naming correctness to cut you down safer!

I am not going to call Syncs straps, they are 100% BINDING, I am honour bound to uphold the rights of the humble and righteous Cabrinha folk, to call Sync's, BINDINGS.

And I've already called the Naming Police, they will be here in a mo, to take care of youse mockers with the singlets and shorts, and fongs.

straps are nice, i use them from time to time, i have a pair of comp lace ups.. or are they classified as bindings now? im soo confused.

by the way steve if your going to market them as bindings you will loose customers as all newbies are warned AGAINST buying bindings, either this or you will let them think using bindings is acceptable when going through the teabagging stage and go out buy themselves a set of proper backed, rigid, full support bindings and end up hurting themselves.

Thanks for noticing Saffer!

The term "proper bindings" has been reported to Naming Police HQ, the initial report coming back from the chief Namer, who shall remain Nameless,

hey kite power. Any word back from the naming police head quarters?

What you really meant but wouldn't say is you worship the ground Pete walks on, and if there way a medical way to do it, you'd gladly have his children, because that's the only logic I can think of that would make you go against everything you know to be correct simple because some company tells you that is correct. "Oh god of Cabrinha, we do worship you so. Tell us simple folk what to call these glorified straps and we will listen to your words"

For the next dictionary term look up, you might want to start with "brainwashing"

is there a warning logo on these bindings? because as far as im aware all bindings must have a warning stating they are for experienced users only, go look at all other bindings and you will see them... now we are hoping your not marketing equipment made for experienced riders only that can result in serious injury or death to newbies are we steve?

We have a winner. Your prize is an African orphan which you will have to fight Angelina Jolie and Madonna for, but be warned, they don't fight fair when it comes to their orphans.

For the love of humanity. O.K. hopefully this will end this saga. Sorry Steve but even Dre agrees with the boys point of view. This is a quote I have taken from him on this very subject that he has posted on KiteScoop:

"I don't need to tell the world that they aren't boots.
i've seen that multiple intelligences have figured that out all on their own. The Cabrinha Sync is basically an evolution of a strap. It has way more support than any other strap out there and you can make it nice and snug with the lace up front. It's pretty obvious that if anyone is looking to buy a boot then they would probably check another company because if you look at the Sync it has no back so you wouldn't mistake it for a boot. Don't let marketting words get you down.

I'm still riding Hyperlite Atlas bindings.
On Cabrinha photoshoots I rock the Syncs."

Now bury this s*&t

Have Cabrinha stolen an idea or are they different?

OK.

I don't have anything better to do ,so here goes:

Technically, it is the wake boarders that have changed the name of something !

i.e. referring to boots as "bindings"

The term "bindings" comes from skiing, and refers to the part on the ski that holds the boot on. Not the boot itself.

The history can be traced back to the 19th Century !

"Modern ski bindings are based on the Fennoscandian model of the 19th century. "

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ski_binding

Its obvious that the boots on snowboards came to be known as bindings, instead of the part that actually clips the boot on,or "binds" the boot to the board.

This then flowed on to Wake boarding. Even though the boot is fixed to the board.

Couldn't agree more !

I would have thought this info would have stopped all argument.

Pic of a real binding.
