Seriously it is just me or are many around that find this one the paramount of ridiculous fines. If it is my choice to ride like Knievel my pushbike and fall from me let me deal with the consequences.

I don't like the helmet law either, but i have to wear one, or if not deal with the fine.

For some people a law seems stupid, but to others it seems sensible. For instance I know Muslim people who say its stupid for a women to have to remove her burqa for a police officer, or inside a bank. I also know others who say it should be against the law to wear a burqa in public, so who is right and who is wrong..

I didn't read all this but have had similar happen except...... There were no beach closed signs up. Jet ski (clubby) had asked a windsurfer to exit water and he remained out. They called police. I was kiting with another friend and police came on beach, siren and lights and ordered me in. I ended up agreeing. Legal advice later off friend was I was legally correct but disobeying a police directive is an offence so catch 22. We have shark alarms virtually daily here. Many stay out in water. If you arrived 30 minutes later, you wouldn't know water had been cleared anyway. I think you'll find you are out of their jurisdiction in water unless WA has some special by law.

Oh, and it is always easy to find people to put into uniforms.

Same deal we have with car vehicles. Currently there are cars in the market with 12 airbags, traction control, bla bla bla and guess what? Are they 100% efficient in saving a life if the driver is a complete nut? I would be safer in my pre 70's no seatbelts vehicle driving it prudently and obviously knowing the consequences if I behave like a clown, than some kid who just got his license and thinks all this technology will get him out of trouble if he decides to plunge into someones bedroom wall (common occurrence in Perth).

In fact probably more people die or get injured from the house vs. bogan vehicle here in Perth per year than falling from a pushbike w/o helmet.
