Great news Dave but knowing the system it will take some time to get anything out of them but there is an election soon so fingers crossed maybe the emperor could do some live testing

Dave if you need further support getting a grant maybe a few letters of recommendations from customers, breezers? You never know.

Our state government is advertising $300000 grants to help develop products so if they don't get on board with you then once again I'd be a bit upset

Hope it all works out

There should be a new word invented called"Sharkanoya" Interesting we want to fight the same imbalance we created in the first place. HUMANS are really dumb for highly evolved creatures.

There was a Ariel shot of it alongside the Police Niad..So it was easy to get some perspective. I was surprised at just how slow it seemed to be moving

Hey Katana , genuinely interested to hear a bit about what you have been doing , ie where , what type sharks ,with what product or own invention ? Love to if you have time , read what you've concluded . Did read the piece in mag bout young lad at wedge and his experience , chilling , my heart was pounding and i wasn't even there . Couldn't imagine what he's going through .

Katana I would have thought for whites all you would have to do is anchor off Cott / Leighton and wait about 2 mins.

Take that as a compliment, if not an outright endorsement of your product. Innovation is often frowned upon in the insipid world of government bureaucracy. After all, what would be left for the file-holders and paper-shufflers to do, if enterprising individuals independently solved their problems?

I didnt think the government could possibly make me think they were more useless then I already did - but they have proved me wrong [}:)]

Out of everything, surely this is the type of technology they should be exploring. Especially since most of the recent fatalities have been surfers.

That is extremely disappointing to read man. A locally developed device to tackle a very real problem with what could well be the most effective means of preventing attacks & they turn it down. I find that unacceptable.

They can't have given it much consideration considering how quickly they responded. Taking into account this is a government department & things usually move slowly. You've got a lot of friends Dave, I wouldn't leave it at that. Maybe a word to someone like Today Tonight. Their sensationalistic style usually atracts some attention.

Let us know if we can help you in some way, I'd be happy to sign a petition & get some other peeps to sign it down here. Or write a letter to someone...I think you need to get these guys to explain how they can't possibly be interested & we have a state election coming up in just a few months, which is usually a good time to get the government to pledge cash support to dampen the squeaky wheels.

Dave, did you get any feedback as to why? If it was something with the way in which you presented your submission then perhaps you can address that issue and re-submit an 'improved' submission? What I am saying is perhaps you do not have to accept the first 'no' you receive...

Good luck and keep up the good work.

Not the best reaction from our local gov

Ive got two questions tho, how much funding do you need? And how do you test it on a GWS?

On the funding front you could do a surf/dive comunity based fund raiser and that would bring it to a wider audience, maybe?

On the testing, Ive thought a bit about this and Im buggered as to how you would do it?? Unless you can find a heap of them in one spot (hard) Ive havent got a clue!

talking to all involved now probably around 40-50k as for testing il leave that up to the shark expert he's been great so far and alot cheaper than the guys the govt wanted us to use .

Well, I would put the work in to submit your 'improved' submission for round two in June and use any grants you get towards refinement of the Mark I product. Also, you could try the City(s) of Joondalup and Stirling, as they do grants for sporting clubs etc...

Probably so they could patent it!
Maybe Breezers would be happy to each put in 100-200 dollars into research funding, provided you deduct that off the cost when we eventually purchase the product from you. Id be willing to risk an investment like this as Im sure a lot of other breezers will as this is becoming a real serious issue for water users.

Once again our local State government just blowing smoke and hot air. Honestly they are saying they will contribute up to $300000 per idea. They even go on to mention like Shark resistant wetsuits Etc. What the hell would be better than board that repels sharks

I know i get red thumbs for my ranting but can anybody else see that our State government are playing us for simple surfers that most think we are[}:)]
