Yeah saw that and I can say that it was a fare call as the point he was trying to make, is that there are alot of ••••ing idiots on Sups that have never surfed and get themselves into dangerous positions! I ask the question to the people who are selling these big sups to novice surfs and are not give out flyers with the surfing code? However the point is ••••ing idiots on sups not sups in general is what I got out of that angry angry bad man!

Dont go out the Alley for a bit and look at the fun i'm missing out on!!

What if i get a ring and write all the surf rules on it and then when someone buys a board i can punch them in the face so every time they look in the mirror they can read them?!!!


P.S I wont punch you in the face by the way it is just a joke OK.

Happened in front of me, guy on Allwave maybe should have paddled to inside
harder perhaps ?? but Mr Naish just wouldn't let it go kept goin on and on about half you guys shouldn't be out here , haha its THE ALLEY ! slowest shi##est wave on the coast ! it's perfect for Kooks SUPs Mals Goat boats etc . Anyway fun morning, felt bit sorry for shortboarders out there not much left with 15 SUPs and loads of Mals also

Sounds like the Alley is the only break in Oz where Sups call the shots.
The shortboarders own the other 6,800+ breaks.

Hmmmm not sure its actually a break but you need to come to the bay SUPs rule, well except for the OC6s but they only hunt in packs - wimps, even the surf boats give us first dibs at the swell, but they do get onto from one hellaova long way back and I think most people just let em go thru if they think their on a wave

funny how some are condemming the action, it wasnt violent and probably deserved. YEP, I did say that!....... I surf the Alley a fair bit and over the last 6 months its the worst it has ever been. So many just dont know or follow the rules, then on top of that seem to leave common sense in the carpark. From what I understand "Mr very very bad SUP man" was calling out to the "kook" to communicate with him...the "kook" ignored it and paddled straight into him. Kook was inside him, but continued to scratch for the sholder.

this is happening to much, I have had similar incidents there and very little reponse of sorry or them learning from their actions.....give them one or 2 free cards but enough is enough.

go back to the flat water and learn to paddle properly WHICH INCLUDES kick turns and learn the rules......ie caught inside, stay inside....FFS its only water, paddle over the white water or dive off if no one behind and safe...

I bet half of you wouldnt be taking "bad man" to task if it was you or a mate in the situation....damaged boards and injured people arent fun, yes it happens sometimes by accident, but whats happening at the Alley is a joke and it is going to take stern words/shouting to get it through...

as for the idea that its not up to the retailers to do anything, and you dont see SB or LB getting the rules given to them, I give you some food for thought.

#1 what percentage of complete ocean newbies buying a SB or LB are paddling straight out through the surf zone and into the line up? compare that to SUP

#2 is a sb or a mini mal (most newbie sufers go the mini mal) as dangerous or as hard to handle as a 10-12 foot SUP?

#3 is the SB/LB legrope 10 foot long with the potenial to stretch twice that?

#4 are they more worried about there paddle etc when they should be worried about the other people in the surf?

it may not be the retails responsability, but here on the GC, while SUP SURF lessons are ILLEGAL, it may be required.

you think the odd SUP'r having a go at other SUP'rs is bad for rep...I say BS, the SUP'rs doing the wrong and dangerous thing is giving us a bad rep! If we dont do something about it, it will be alot worse if it takes SB and LB to kerb the growing trend of problems.

Make sure you write it backwards so they will be able to read it in the mirror

Wow do we need "BLACK SHORTS" Sup enforcers?? If you cant look after your board or have to drop in on people dont go out. Noone wants to see people getting badly hurt cos of stupid drop ins

i always think to myself when i see these reports about kooks. who are the experts!!!.
