Great vid STC, really cool to see you carve out.
So my quest continues: the 8'7 was nice the other day, today I finally got out on the 8'4 and.. fell off a lot. V-light offshore wind, clean green on the suck, shoulder high.. so you'd be thinking "ideal" right? Well yes it was. I fell in a lot for the first 30mins trying to find a balance point, once I realised it's in the dead center of the board it became clear and all was well.. Surf stance is probably better for turning sharp but don't get your back foot too far back just yet.. paddle semi surf-stance into the wave then hop back but it needs a wider stance than the 8'7 to keep the speeed (sic) then pull your front leg back about where the handle is to start ripping, and it does do that in spades.. odd really bu the drop in size/Ltrs from the 8'7 is very marked.. I liked it, did it like me? Hmmm.. the fins took a chunk out of my thigh and holed my wetsuit because it didn't want to let go after a bailed out "hit the beach" ride which happens to us all at some point.
So.. which one will I settle on the 8'4 or the 8'7 ?
Ive decoded neither until after our summer is over, so late August is when I'll revisit this. Luckily my mate stocks Sunova boards so this gives me some options open that others may not have..
For the meantime I'll keep what I've got.. my trusty 8'10 Speeed, my 8'7 Flow and my junky 8'3 Shroom..
Hope my meandering thoughts haven't clogged up the thread..
Cheers
