Nice casso. Do you ride with your back foot on the very tail most of the time or move it around?

I move it around a bit, but it is often right on the tailpad block.

Re The decks on there vac vs not vac , Would you have to allow litres to compensate for this

i like the idea of the stronger deck but if it's making the board a little heavy and I'm on my limit for litres etc ...

Indeed it does, colas.

now casso, imagine how that board would perform if you actually tried to lay it over properly......

It does turn a bit flat. Still chucks buckets just looks different. Keen to try a XXXL model if it comes west

Been following this with much interest. Looks like we will get some easterly swell next week. Hope that pushes through. Keen to get your feedback from our shores mate. I mostly surf the east coast so looking for something to make the most of the weaker and smaller stuff. Keen to hear you opinion on it's suitability for that.

enjoy!!

Kia Ora Mate
Bit of a pulse next week so hoping to get it wet then. More than happy to share my thoughts as others did for me...found it really helpful in making a decision. Looks the the prowave is going to stay dry for a bit. Will post a photo of board after ive put deck pad on it. Cheers again to Andrew , Simon , the Deep boys and the Supcentre in NZ for getting these babies to our shores

Supmaori I've got one on the way as well but had a crack of the Good Drs 7'8" on the weekend in small but clean surf and WOW.... I was speechless and still can't get the smile of my face.
I've been surfing the Coreban Lithium for close to 12 months now and love it but at 100kg have to surf it hard to get much out of it.
The minion was effortless and what I did put into the turns was repaid 10 fold with what I still feel is the best turns I've had out of a SUP, EVER!
Fast, smooth, Effortless... It left me feeling like I could do no wrong.
Jumped back on the minion (which I thought I was chucking around nicely on the day) and it felt like a brick afterwards.

Bring on the minion!!! yew.....

SUPMaori, did you put the deck pad on yourself or was that done at the SUP Centre? Where did you get the deck pad?

Nah mate i did that at home last night..got the deck pad fron Nik at Sup Shed..and then carefully cut and and measured up deck. They pad came as a full deck with kick pad . i didnt have to alter the sides at all which was great but had to shorten from both ends , remove kick pad and the cut . Pretty stressful job to be honest as you cant make any mistakes and handles was tricky but happy with end result.
I personally dont like wax as it tends to stick to paddle when in prone position, plus deck aslo adds abit of protection from compression marks and strengthens deck.

You did an awesome job putting the deck pad on. But having to pay an extra $100 for a deck pad and have the stress of putting it on right the first time is a bit of a hassle for $2700!?

Supmaori, Just out of curiosity mate but what is the weight of the board now that you have the decking on. Cheers Ozzie

Cheers Stevo..yip added cost but this was by far better option...as other pads were $200+ and then the cost of someone doing it for you. My advice is take your time measure twice and cut once..took me a good 4hrs..but was worth the saving..and ozzie haunt weighed it but by comparison it's lighter than my 7kg carbon prowave

If you cant handle putting on a bit of deck grip I dont think you should be SUPing in the surf near other people

Well if you are referring to my last post, I was implying that if you dont have the basic hand-eye co-ordination to install deck grip how the hell are you going to A: ride a SUP in surf, and B: do it safely near others......

I think supmaori was referring to the added cost of having to buy a grip and cut it to shape , we know this is a one shot job get it wrong and ya stuffed especially on such a big bit of grip.

for the price of these I would of expected grip to be included

i for one would be a bit tentative at placing a grip on when spending $2700 on the board and then a further $200 on grip

Settle down wavesareus , who cares about the deck grip . Supmaori has a great looking board , whatever the grip is doing . This topic is all about how these puppies surf and I for one am interested on the big fellas opinion .

Re read my initial post and quote regarding the whole deck grip saga. ....

#1 I quoted Stev0 not Supmaori

#2 never brought up cost

#3 im still struggling to understand how installing deck grip is a stressful or trying task.....

Anyway back to the minions and the enjoyment they are bringing those who are riding them...deck grip or not

#4 husq2100 doesn't know I have basic eye hand coordination and have installed plenty of deck grips before - I know it's a hassle especially if you have already paid $2700!

#5 husq2100 doesn't know I am an experienced and advanced SUP surfer who takes safety seriously - so thanks for insult!

#6 husq2100 doesn't know WTF he is talking about when making assumptions about other people in this forum!

…and now back to the topic...

Really? Seriously are you trying to somehow show that one necessarily indicates or is a prerequisite for another skill. They have absolutely nothing to do with one another.I honestly dont know where to start in terms of addressing the lack of logic that you seem to be applying here.

Stev0, I must apologise for ruffling your feathers. I did not think you would take a stupid comment so seriously. Granted I thought being stressed by deck grip pretty stupid. But it seems I am now confused as to the actual problem with having to install deck grip???

Is it stressful?
Is it just a "hassle"?
Or is it just the extra $$$ that burns?

@ghost4man, Im must apologise to you also, sorry I did not get my logic across. I see installing deck grip as a simple task that requires only basic motor skills, I see paddling and surfing these lower volume boards as a more complex task that requires co-ordination of multiple body parts and senses…. I figure if struggling and stressing over the easy one, the more difficult of the two is going to be something that is going to need a whole lot of work.

then again I may be confused over which one is the more complex activity…..but hey I only use wax on my board.

To show my redemption and to try and appease the SUP gods, If any new Minion customers are troubled with deck grip install, ill happily apply their grip for them.
