It's about time someone started giving some good fins, when you spend so much on a new board i'd imagine it's nice to not get some cheapo plastic fins

Mate well said. It is a disgrace how the more popular brands seem to provide a poor choice in fins especially if one considers how much is paid for the boards!

The prices of boards are getting stupid I agree money has to be made, but when the profit is so high I have to think how long will it be before we just say NO

Hi ghost, comparison to Jp 7'4 is that it does everything better. (Sorry Jp!) I personally think the Jp was just to big for me though. It has 90liters of volume and I'm 65kgs. The baby minion catches waves easier. Especially with offshore wind (doesn't get under nose I assume) when things got bigger and faster I felt like I'd have to nurse the Jp in bottom turns a bit (May be lack of skill) but the minion feels so secure I just lay into them with no fear of slipping out and I'm only using fcs k2.1 quad set which is way smaller than supplied fins. Minion turns tighter if I want. Only slides when I want it too. Gives me way more confidence in most parts of the wave. love it and since if had it, it's the only board I take to the beach. Selling my other boards.
To be fair, I just don't think the Jp was the right board for me. I really want to ride a star 7'4 cause I think that will be better for my size, and see how that stacks up against the minion.

I turn my last red 6'5" 27.75" file in a 6'10 long, 26 1/4 wide and 4 inches thick : the master scale shows : 82.9 liters
IMO, does not worth to narrow the board too much otherwise you get rails too chunky and losing advantage of the thin rails.
Need to correlate area/minimum volume/thin rail ...and then find the minimum width you can stand.
I don't agree getting board too narrow otherwise it's loosing many advantages of wide board because i got an extension arm to carve these big and wide shortboard

what is the bottom shape on the minnion? single to double with a channel in the tail? i cant seam to find any good pictures showing it, if any one has one and can take a quick pic i would be interested to see.

I do however prefer the wrap finish of jp etc just for durability

If there is no deck pad you can spray on Monster Paint texture grip which is way better than wax (leave that old school wax **** to the pronies). Not sure if all of the boards have a kick tail either?

Wavesareus the decks of the deep boards are vac bagged so they are strong. I don't use rail tape because the finish doesn't chip and the boards are tough.

No rail tape, and no chips that's a quality board not like the naish

Even though the minions are the latest lollies on offer, let's not forget Rivera at hundreds less ??

Trying to decide what size in these minions tempted to go crazy and try 7'8 but I also want to be able to stand on it out the back in chop so tempted for the 7'10 very hard choice I just don't want to be sitting on the board and only stand when a wave comes, defeats the purpose
