Today... I saw my boat for the first time, I finally made it to Combrit. Threw the bags in the hotel and went for a walk along the harbour to se if I could get a sneak peek at Fusion (it is 3pm on Sunday here), and success! Initially I was shocked, she's bigger than I remembered, but is has been a year and photos don't really give you a sense of perspective. Grinning from ear to ear at the mo, can't wait for tomorrow!

Commissioning is going really well so far (touch wood). Today was mostly all electronics, it never ceases to amaze me how much wiring goes into a boat! My head and notebook is crammed full of what goes where, but I am chuffed to see numbering on all the wires and little note tags on all the critical stuff. The guy that has done all the wiring is a gentlemen called Pierre Vu, and his attention to detail has been great. There are service loops on the electronics to enable you to remove anything that is tight and things like all the battery side supply wiring is always on the top lugs,that sort of thing.
The DC bus alone is quite staggering how much has gone into it, I can only imagine what Jode looks like if mine is anything to go by!
The following is a pic of some of the electronics, this is taken from inside the rear starboard cabin looking inwards. Pogo call this cabin the "technical" area, it is primarily used for stowage and is also the main access to the engine, fuel and water systems as well as the electronics.

The big barrel at the rear is the hot water system, then moving forrard is the pumps, water filters the fuel tank and then electronics, both DC and navigation.

Removed the old cutlass bearing I drove to Luxford Marine . I met Mark hes a nice bloke .
Picked up a replacement. Ill need to replace the prop shaft its worn so reassembly wont happen this weekend but Ill epoxy the cutlass bearing into position. Was hoping to use the Vesconite but the standard size was bush 1.250 where as I needed 1 3/8" O.D.








Is it worth waiting for the shaft to align the bearing before you epoxy the bearing in place.?
My boat has a P bracket supporting the end of the shaft and the alignment of the P bracket was not concentric with the shaft, leading to uneven wear on the bearings. On my last slipping, I machined the new bearing down so that it was a loose fit in the P bracket and epoxied it in place to correct the alignment.

I meant correct clearance to the shaft. Manufacture should have the correct clearance for a wet fit. You do not want it too tight.

The bearing in one of your photos looks like a Thorden. I realize the shaft is probably 1" and the ID of the bearing is probably 1" but there has to be a proper wet clearance otherwise it will jam. It's best to check the clearance on the new shaft before you glue it in place. New bearings often have to be machined to match the shaft. Not really a problem on toy sized shafts but can be critical on larger shafts 2 to 3 inches or so and upwards. The PDF will have the tolerances somewhere.
