The above page shows the same sort of thing but your explanation sold me on the idea. Where as "Landyacht" Paul has constructed a single Arm fork I have decided to go with a Push Bike style fork.. I don't know, but it makes sense to me to have forks in that area just in case of a breakage. It would be a rare case that both would break at the same time. Just thinking of metal fatigue under such stress conditions. I've been watching utube and the bigguns. By the way the world record holders are in there as well. Damn! 126mph/202 kmph and both POM's. Yeah! OK so they are windbags

22mm tube 2.5mm side wall
small washouts at speed
speed was the major factor
Dan and I have a bad habit of pushing hard- eg we have only sailed cats together 4 times Result- broken hobie 16(anchor pin for rear shroud)
broken calipso 16(started to pull rear traveler out of beam)
broken nacra 5.8(downhaul)

problem is nebbs is that the wind is up so you are out sailing on the water
The bike fork result is why i dont use them . I have tried set up with a solid shaft of 16mm and that still bent. Thats why i settled on solid 20mm. yes it is a bit heavy, but i have really punished them and not bent or cracked a weld yet.
you could try inserting a cut off handlebar neck into the area that bends, or even find some solid that fits and insert say 50mm inside to strengthen that area

Ok! I have spent the last few wet days at the table with Pencil Pen and Paper,,,,,,,,ah, old Photo Card. That in itself is a good material to Draw Technical Stuff on. Anyway I am about to upload them for you lot to tell me why they won't work. At this point there is one thing I need to have cleared up and that is the axles. I am looking at using either solid Ali' or Steel plugs Angle drilled to 25mm and possibly taking a 10mm bolt throuogh the back end of the 25mm axle, plug and Ali' axle mount. Anyone care to dispute my theory. I would like to use steel in this scenario but doubts have been cast on that method and it has been touted that I should Weld the Ali' PLug into place???

Input please input. Landyacht if you will as there is nothing like experience to add a little garnish on a recipe

I started a new Topic yesterday, Mast Construction. (I don't seem to be able to find it now) I have been looking about for T8 but I get a blank stare and Duh! when I mention it :-) at Metal Land. Evidently each manufacturer has their own standard. Aircraft Tubing if imported and, like, $260 a 4 mtr length. Damn I could buuy a Brand New Carbon 4.9mtr cheaper.
What are your suggestions in this matter.. Oh! I finally worked the construction of the Desert Eagle mast though it would appear that it has a solid rod core for most of the lower section???
I also received the sails yesterday. They are excellent, the 5mtr one is near new. "Very Happy Chappy" I am.

I just want big and fast and I like the look of the Desert Eagle. I also like to experiment a bit
. "live and Learn" that is what I do. Ever started to fall off a dry grass 1900Mtr Extremely Steep Slope/Cliff ????? I have and had to re-build the "A" Frame before going an hour later.. Lesson, Don't wear Desert boots Hang Gliding, their treads point the wrong way.

Hay! That is what you get from trying to second guess a set of Not-To-Scale-Plans.

I will look into my Drawings and make alterations as I've found a couple of anomalies in my spec's as well. Mind you this is what it is all about. Same as my reasons for changing the seating arrangements, I want comfort and size as I am not a small person with back problems but I ain't letting a little detail get in my way.

Keep the critique coming and no I don't want a blow kart------------Not big enough.

I think you can move the seat back so that your hips are in line or just in front of the centre of the rear wheels, that should give you plenty of room to get the centre of wheel length back to 2.5m and the mast post around 57" in front of the centre of the rear wheels(I think your current seat position will put to much weight on the front wheel) I may be wrong someone with more experience could verify .Have a look at the pic below to see around about where your centre of weight should be.(I sit about 300 foward of this position as I found the front was to light)

OK! You 'orrible Lot. Enough with the sly remarks. To Light in the front end, I'm guessing. They aren't meant to fly. Vic that is part of the reason I am loath to take the seat back too far. You guys are making a whole new meaning of "Ohwell! Back to the ol' Drawing Board". Just have a look at my latest efforts please. I am running out of Photo Paper and the wife is getting a Tad Miffed at the time I have the Dinning Table tied ip [}:)].
This part of the game has been a real experience but there a couple of minor details that will have to be finalized when their turn is nigh.

Ah yes! There was a misunderstanding over the drill tube he said "it has 10mm walls that is combined i.e. 5mm wall thickness 55.5= 45.5 id "Capiche"

Masts? Masts? I got masts... Double Klik The Long ship.

Sails I got lots too. 2 11sqM and I reckon with the near new 5.5 mast and the bits I can cobble together another 2 and use some of the left over bits as re-enforcement.

I've started to build the Capsule and it ain't going to be as easy I thought Ok! So that is only going to make the Grey Matter drop back a cog and start chugging along.
Yes I will take the odd pic' here and there and no doubt they will be Odd!
I just have to take my time and do it right the first time, I want it to look good as well as perform. Hmmm! Wonder how she will go under 11mtrs??? Probably under light winds but on its side in heavy ones.
Catch up later. We are now heading to Hobart to pick up the new lot of sails and bits.
