new zephyr looks smaller in the air than the last one...

moves around a hell of a lot quicker

pulls about the same, maybe better because it moves quicker

jumps better, maybe '??ause it moves quicker

That's my zephyr over Puetz's kite.

The photo angle does make the size difference look more pronounced - there was a bit of difference but it is exaggerated somewhat by the photo.

And which in reality is the true 17 by measurement anyway ? Different profiles and designs to do different things . Both great kites

... not that the Zeph is small, its just that the Dyno is a generous sized 17 (much like the owner), probably more like 18m!

11 would be a good gap the zephyr has quite a large range. could comfortably go to 11 even 10

I agree with the above statement regarding too much overlap. I live in Perth, current weight is 75Kg and I use the following:
2013 17m Ozone Zephyr - 10 to 20 knots (145x44 light wind TT for 10-14 knots, 132x41 TT for 15 knots plus)
2013 8m Airush Lithium - 18 to 28 knots (132x41 TT)
Another guy at my local weights a bit more than me (say 10kg) and only uses the Zephyr and a 9M kite for roughly the same wind ranges.

For little value as it has been stated, zephyr / 11m for sure. You would find the 13 bottom end due to its efficiency would be comparable to the zephyrs.

Yeh man. Let me put it this way, when I got the zephyr my bro was out a hell of a lot of time on his 11m edge on a 136 by 41, and I'd either be on my 135 by 41 and even my light wind TT 145 by 44.

Sure I was a little more powered and if it really dropped to say 11/12 then he'd struggle and I'd be okay on the light wind TT and the zephyr. And he weighed more than me about 5kg or more back then.

But I was still naffing about a bit. Then again I hold the same kites as guys I ride with who are 85kg and I like to be powered (me at 75).

But my bro has a zephyr now and we charge it when others are putting up 12s and are nicely powered. It has a remarkable top end and yeh it's a lot more stable and forgiving when trying stupid stuff, especially in the lighter winds.

Great wing hey...if only they would make smaller versions...oops I did it again...

The 13m edge is a remarkable kite as well though.

Do what I did, just picked up a dyno 2011 16m...now I will be lit of my ass in 15....bahahahahahah, not looking forward to the pumping routine though!!

agreed, ive had the zeph, 10 and 7 edge combo, no need for a kite inbetween the zeph and 10, but if you've a mixed brand quiver it might be necessarry

Bloody good idea, good quiver spread there.

when my 16 meter NRG 2013 using 23 meter lines is not pulling any more I add the 7 meter extension. I can tell you it make a positive difference. I also use the 7 meter extension on my other bar and kites when I don't want to pump another kite when the winds drops. Yes it does affect the turning speed. cheers

The larger shorter one dangling on every pump. You just stab or slightly screw (sort of just twist slightly but it does not lock in place anyway) into the wide valve after you took the cap off. Make sure it is all sand-free as it might otherwise leak. And don't twist the large valve too much/tight before pumping to avoid you damage the bladder. Tighten both valve and cap once pumped up (not too soft)

Yeh correct...check the seal, even take it off to make sure there is no sand on the bottom side of the seal, even a small grain...brush it off.

After tightening a little bit, turn the entire valve forward and back and listen for any leaks..if so just tighten a little more, but as said don't over do it!!

I usually land just by steering the leading edge down when the kite is say 2m from the ground on the edge of the wind window. As I fly it in light winds that works well. Then I pull the line closest to me so the kite turns out of the wind in the proper parking position. Unhooking (make sure you are not in suicide mode though) and grabbing the upper middle line while quickly walking upwind and near the ground also works. Should you ride it in higher winds just use a tether, subject to your beach offering a post or so

Kazan there is some excellent discussion and reviews going on the KF at the moment. I think the review by T one(he has ridden FS foils since day dot and thought his review was really balanced) and by Okinawa kiter may help in formulating a decision.

Problem is you'd have to be a very forgiving retailer to stock this kite as a demo kite...it's an expensive piece and relatively fragile (relatively) to have crew doing what they can do to demo kites.

I'd love to try one...
