I don't believe you guys count pumps.....what planet are you from?

Why would you not count pumps? What else is there to do whilst pumping?
You obviously do not have an active brain and will probably get early onset dementia haha!

i just pumped my new 14m rpm. Biggest before that i had was 11. Couldnt imagine the 17 must be massive hah

Yep . Standard equipment in Darwin . Big kites and too bloody hot .

Used to be 50 pumps - beer - 50 pumps - beer - 10 pumps - 10 pumps - beer - then kite .

Now - electric pump - beer while pumping - kite - much more cost and health effective

been off kiting for a year due to injury and been a reasonably loyal north fan (vegas)... thing is ive swapped to ozones and got edges and a zephyr after demoing 2 (9 and 13) edges...took a punt on the zephyr based on forum write ups (some here)......well got out today on it for the first time.

wind was light 8-10 knots on a 132 tt at 81 pies for me ..managed to trawl across the beach and back... thinking the whole time a skim board will set this off nicely...then the wind picked up to i would guess 12-14 knots max!!

bloody hellfire !! this kite is just awesome ..was tanking upwind , loads of power ,very controllable , jumps werent electric lift but not bad for what amounts to bu**er all wind.
i was surprised that it actually turns reasonably fast for a 17m kite... very good purchase

the only problem i have ,and its a nice situation to find myself is i also have 13-11-9-7 edges.....so i wonder how much the 13 will get used as i reckon the 11m edge could just about over lap the zephyr...but i like the overlaps small as it gives the best sweet spots............... (broke the bank though )

Zephyr and nugget.

15 kts, 85 kgs. Skinny wind. Small waves.

For me , in Darwin , this combination is going to mean a lot more time on the water and enjoyment of waves which was not there before , having had this session today.

The kite drifts , transitions quickly and the board assists in keeping things going in lulls. On several occasions I forgot about the kite while riding a wave and felt the kite backing down - looking at the kite , it looked like was going to drop into the water but it sort of hung , closed up and offered to recover - reefed on a steering line and recovered. In my experience with another kite , it would have ended in the water.

Am stoked. It's a great combination for anyone who wants a light wind wave setup. Looking forward to the wet season.

I'm out on the zephyr when my bro is on his 11m edge (although he has some voodoo light wind **** going on with his edges?) from 14/15 up and he was bang on what you do. Its the 11 to 14 area that he struggles unless he gets on a big strapless SB, but he not having near as much fun.

The zephyr at your weight will easily got to 18 maybe 20 ( but your winds are colder and denser than ours), especially if you have access to a smaller board.

Zephyr to 11m edge you will still have an overlap. The edge in that 11m size has the most incredible ow end and top end of them all.

But yeh 13m will allow you to dial in exactly the right sweet spot, and also allow a different style of riding.

But if you want some more cash back no probs getting rid of it hey,

my 13 edge (old 7 strut 2010 beast) gives big grins 16-23 knots. Its a great size to have if you have shifting winds cranking past 20 knots but also lows under 15. On those days a 17 zep gets abit of a handfull and an 11 edge is a super sweet beast but for me the big grins occured 18+ knots so sub 18 is abit boring.

We get quite alot of those days here where a 17 is just too much but an 11 is enough..... I guess I comes down to you location and most common wind scenario's.

PS yes you can run straight from zep to 11 or 10 edge. But you miss the sweet spot for the 13M!!

Hmmm. Have ordered the 13 m dice to fill the gap between zeph and 10 m .
I dont expect it to act anything like a 10-12m but hope it carries the characteristics of the design through to the 13 with just a little more size to cope with skinny air and cover down to 10m or smaller .

Comment that it depends on the place is quite true . Up here we need to err more on the low end of the wind range rather than the top end when looking at a kite .

Will see how it goes .

honestly ive been on a zephyr 2013 10 and 7 edge quiv for a while, if you like to ride powered the isnt a need for a 13, this quiver has me beautifully powered from 15 to 40knts, if a 13 edge and a zephyr were pumped up for me to choose in said winds id be taking the zephyr, the upper limits are insane i was having a ball when a mate was on a 8mtr cab switchblade , hes a little lighter than me but impressive none the less

Wheres you guys dedication to multiple kite quivers? Sure Going 17m to 10m is easily possible. But why not have a 13 in there as well?

You guys with you 3 and 4 kite quivers just aren't dedicated enough to riding in the sweet spot all the time!......

I'm loving my 5 kite quiver. 15,13,10,8,6...... oh yeah.

I don't think my fat ass could jump form 17 to 10 - how are you doing it?!?

Only have a quiver like I do cos I had too much free time in my old job... 21, 19, 17.5, 16, 15, 13, 12, 10, 7... I could ditch 2 of those easy though :D
