Ah yes with any other kite than the edge i would agree. But the edge has such an incredible wind range cauncy can do this. Plus hes an animal and will hold his zephyr probably until his teeth chattered...

He also has the speedball, rather change a board than a kite size...

my quiver is dependant on how i like to ride, and the model of kite is allowing me to achieve this , the zephyr gets ridden in the 14 to low 20s, it can be riddden below and above but this is the range i like and love, then the 10 edge up to high 20s, then the edge 7 to low 40s, for me and where i live this is perfect, ive had big quivers until last year but can honestly say i wouldnt change my current set up, i change my bar settings on the steering lines to fine tune prior or during a session depending on conditions,

whats the range of your 11 dice eppo? similar to 10m edge?

I've never used the 7 and only once thought "Hmm, maybe I should have something smaller than the 10 today" :( mostly I use the 17.5 now I have it - it's so much better than the 16 XB IMHO - and the 13m XB. A couple of times a year I get out on the 10m...

I change boards too, but I'd rather hit the sweet spot - I *could* hold the 17 down until the 10 could be ridden, but I'd be having way more fun on the 13. Or be underpowered on the 10.

- and I'm heavy. And the lake is choppy as a bastard - in Thailand, the dead flat water gave me another 3 or 4 knots on the bottom end, I guess.

Here are my sweet spots*
10-15knots, Speed3 21
15-20knots, Flite 17.5 / Speed3 15
20-25knots, 2011 XB13 / Speed3 15/12
25-??knots, 2011 XB10 / Speed3 12

IMHO there's no point hanging on to a kite way over it's wind range, as it starts getting well out of it's design envelope and stars misbehaving in a dangerous way eg. XB16 - Cab says 6 to 16knots, I can ride it to 26 but it starts twitching.

* for the TTs. The boards I have most experience with are Flydoor3 170x50 and my now-lost Flyradical3 138x42. I'd ride the 'door down the bottom end but as soon as I could easily go upwind, I'd swtich to the Flyradical and that'd give me another 5 knots for gusts, I reckon.

Now I've replaced the Flyradical with an 2014 Aboards Z-series 140x43 (don't like it, tips are too narrow for my taste - it's for sale, btw) and just got an Ocean Rodeo Origin 142x47, which looks like it'll do the job. If it doesn't - I'm going to get a Flyradical4 XL sucks not being able to demo gear...

Got a Dialer too... still getting used to it. Bottom end isn't much more than the Flydoor, but it's more fun to ride. I need better kites for it though!

I'm with you happyg, at 80 liters of shiraz, my zephyr, 7 and 10m rebel seems to have it covered. Am thinking I need a 5 as well for when it's nuking. Might get a neo I think as Kim will be flogging them cheap now he has a shop full of Dices!

Same thing with the Flysurfers - "Aw, all you need is a 21 and a 12"... maybe, but if you're heavy and you need the truck-pulling bottom end, you gotta have a 15 too.

But it's MHO that the S3 15 is the best of them all... like the XB13 :D

Hey dave what does kim think of the dices you asked him?? Compared to his beloved Neos?

I think he said "load of rubbish, all marketing hype, only someone like Eppo would buy them". Haha, just joking, haven't actually seen him for a few weeks. My nephew matt988 bought a park from Kim, Kim offered him the dice, but at $800 or so more he couldn't justify it.

Looking forward to it Eppo! Hopefully the sea breeze and warm days will have arrived by then...

not one to post on forums much but , have had the zephyr now for a month or so and have tested it out a bit from a larger dude point of view .

at 106 pies im riding easily in 13 to 14 knots ( pilbara knots ) and holding it down easily up to around 27 knots (kites not deforming at all and still boosts and loops nicely )..

put simply what a F**king kite !!! think ill just about be able to cut down to a 2 kite quiver at this rate , the 17 and my 8 ....

Stoked for ya pgh it is a remarkable wing. Last session in exmouth 15 knots steady as she blows on the shortest knot. Awesome ramps and out back riding down the line just a great way to top off such an awesome trip. Another zephyr was oit ther as well sharing the stoke A wakesyle rider had a go durin the trip and really rated it as well for his unhooked magic.
