it's not the laws that are wrong, you see how over the top traffic laws can become; they keep upping and upping the punishments to the point where you can get bigger punishments without due criminal process for a hoonish act like a burn out in an industrial estate that far far out shines the punishments for assault or other legitimate victim crimes but do those who are inclined to do that sort of thing care?? Raising the punishment does nothing. maybe it is time to examine the social structure to work out the bad point and fix the problem not try stamp out the symptoms without studying their cause.

This is what really needs to happen to FIX the problem. As you said Crazy, it's the cause that needs the real attention, not the symptomatic results.

It's like Dog obedience training.

If a dog does something bad, ie:pee on carpet.
if you come sometime after the fact see the pee then go rub the dogs face in it.
the dog has no idea why you were mean to it, and just resents you.

Catch the dog in the act of peeing and then rub its nose in it, and it gets it. and relates bad experience to peeing on carpet.

Thieves are Dogs, going to court is so far removed from the act that it is an inconvenience that they resent. They just think to not get caught next time to avoid the inconvenience.
Sort them out at the time and place of the act, and they soon relate bad things with doing bad things.

As a point of "Self Defense" you can defend your self, others, and property.
using reasonable and proportional force. Reasonable force being what a court would see as being reasonable for average members of society(therefore society and social acceptance of certain behaviors evolves the attitude of the courts).

So a thief braking into a car with a rock, could it be argued that using a rock to stop him was proportional?

I certainly didn't expect the political surge,the good samaritan speeches and the aggro crew.

Overall, i stick to my opinion that it is good to see the thieving %%^&*&^ get a just reward

I heard the comments on the ever lasting violence and the dangers of retaliation and the only way you will find out is by breaking into my car and watch the show but i wouldn't recommend it
