I'm still stoked.
Thanks to everyone who made this event happen!
I decided to give the 16m a crack thinking the wind would hover around 17knots max. What a mistake that was.
I made 2 tacks and couldn't keep my board on the water. With 26min to the final gun I bit the bullet and thought - gotta swap kites.
Sprinted like Usane Bolt back to where the kites were packed up. Found the 9m and ran back to the beach.
The whole time thinking I might waste this opportunity to have a cracker of a race and miss the start.
Kite getting pumped was all good, my lines were all tangled up ( Slingshot put some colour in your lines please, white on white - you get the picture)
After much heartbeat and adrenalin kite was launched with 6min before the gun!!!Woooooooooooooooooooo Hooooooooooooo
The 9m Fuel felt perfect!
I made my way north to the natural jetty and just with 35 seconds to go slowly moved to the start. I finished 24 (I think) in 32 min. But when I really think about it my race stated the moment I decided to swap kites.
Thank you Issac, the one armed volunteer who helped me out. Aussie champ.
That's my second race and hands down my favorite.
