Why, because I've visited countless and unlike the sea there is no daily movement of water on them.
But you understand the concept of how the moon affects bodies of water?
Which is why we can observe tides on very large bodies of water, such as oceans, very easily.
On smaller bodies of water like lakes, the observable affect is much smaller, to the point where the human eye would be unable to determine it occuring.
Why, because I've visited countless and unlike the sea there is no daily movement of water on them.
Or is it the turtles lurching from side to side as we travel through space?
Turtles, a lame pathetic attempt to discredit a different opinion.
Not the way to live.
But then if was a popular belief it would be perfectly all right I guess?

So, step up and tell me how tides work. You know tides do exist as you have seen them on the ocean. Whether they exist on lakes is not being discussed at this point.
How do they work according to your belief system?
What is your opinion? You haven't stated it other than you have never seen tides on lakes in Scotland. We can all accept that and have provided articles suggesting it is only 1.5mm which is clearly not something anyone would notice.
"'Smart' antibiotic spares the microbiome
An antibiotic called lolamicin targets disease-causing Gram-negative bacteria without disturbing healthy gut bacteria. Broad-spectrum antibiotics against these pathogens wreak havoc on the gut microbiome and can allow potentially deadly Clostridioides difficile to take over. Mice infected with antibiotic-resistant Gram-negative bacteria survived after being given lolamicin, whereas almost 90% of those that didn't receive the drug died within three days. Lolamicin did not seem to disrupt the gut microbiome and spared mice from C. difficile infections."

That's great news. How old is this article? Why have I never heard of them? What's it got to do with this thread?
Yes it is good news.

Conspiracy theories and conspiracy theorizing
Steve Clarke
Conspiracy Theories, 77-92, 2019
This chapter argues that conspiracy theorists are typically victims of a form of cognitive failure. It deals with a few words in favour of the conspiracy theorist. Conspiracy theorists, like creation scientists and astrologers, are advocates of ideas that are generally quite popular. No doubt history plays its part in explaining the hostility of intellectuals towards conspiracy theories. Conspiracy theorizing has long been favored by Populists, who are almost invariably anti-elitist, and therefore generally anti-intellectual as well. Because conspiracy theorists almost always wish to see conspiracies exposed, they are typically quite dedicated in their search for evidence relevant to their favourite conspiracy theory and are usually able to overwhelm philosophers with a deluge of evidence in favour of that theory. In some cases, conspiracy theorists may belong to a subculture of fellow theorists that acts to significantly affect their judgment. Most conspiracy theorists who manage to make the headlines these days produce theories that are harebrained and lacking in warrant.

Key points?
You are thinking about it too much
Possibly more than the people posting the link.
I think the key points are:
Flying Dutchman aligns with Joe Rogan
Joe Rogan is vindicated
Joe Rogan was in a heated debate
Someone should apologise to Joe Rogan because he was vindicated in a heated debate
And it is somehow related to Covid-19 vaccination
...

I was a bit surprised yesterday. Someone who is normally relatively quiet tried to steer every conversation to Trump versus Biden debates about American politics. Luckily no one else in this social group cares about American politics and ignored him. I was surprised about how vocal he was.
We live in Australia right? Do we really care who the President is in the USA?
Why is it that these guys gravitate towards US politics? Is it because they get wrapped up in the same type of people and these people are based in the US and send content and memes all about US politics? I am surprised about the memes we get here in funny images thread. I would have to understand US politics to even begin to understand them, let alone think they are 'funny'.

US politics is retarded. Neither of the candidates are appealing, but one is a chaos agent so while I don't like the policies of the old guy we have to hold our nose and vote for the old guy on the basis that he has surrounded himself with a competent team who will hold the ship steady for another 4 years until we can have better choices. In 4 years time I will be voting for sane fiscal policies (Mitt Romney was the last time I thought we had a reasonable choice). I'm a fiscal conservative and a social libertarian so I don't fit anywhere.

I will give you ten social credit points if you already know where the phrase 'it's what the body craves' comes from.

You're right of course. American politics should only be of any concern to countries that host a US military base. Can't think why anyone should be watching it here in Australia.

Exactly, under NO circumstances allow information to cloud your beliefs. ![]()
