That's quite interesting, it's basically saying that the increased attacks are due to the abundance of food for the GWs, and is not attributable to an incresse of water users, saying that the number of water users doesn't correlate with the increased attacks.

Sounds like what some of us have been saying all along, and goes against your views.

One mistake they did make is in saying that GWs have bad eyesight, it has been shown in recent years that they do actually have excellent eyesight, and do see in colour.

Perhaps we should cull the whales then?

ACtually just goes to show how much you actually read. I have said all along that "I don't believe there are more sharks, but i do believe there are more in our local waters, thanks to more food supply in our local waters. Thanks to a few issues but mostly due to less commercial fishing in local waters".

Thats why i say drum lines will make no difference. remove one Great white and another will turn up for a feed. So the only way it will make any difference is that you will have to knock off hundreds at least..

Oh and i was told today that Professional fisherman down south are boasting to have killed 12 great whites already Rewards are now being organised to help catch anyone involved.

Also legal action is actually being lodged against our state government

Gee, so you never said that the increased attacks were due to more people in the water.
Right.
Are you denying you said that now?

Also, are you disputing that an increase in a particular food source results in an increase in population of the animals that feed off that food source?

I still think personal devices are the way to go and what the government should be investing into. So I put my money where my mouth is and ordered a surf safe board from Katana for chrissy , get on board support a local innovator, pics to come when I get it.

Just a thought if sharks main food source is in decline (which is undisputed) would not the the shark numbers also decline.
I mean if we put 10 humans in a box and take away thier main food source don't their numbers decline?
I think its actually an indicator that we are over fishing the oceans removeing the main food source and the sharks are just trying to stay alive by moving closer to shore and tasting things they would not normally eat.

good thoughts red

GW's food scource= anything in the way-

Well, I do read what you post and try to address in this 'discussion' what you and others say, instead of making baseless claims about your views.

The link you posted www.washarkattacks.net/swimming-deaths.php contradicts your own argument/view which you support with this image...

jbshack posted this...on page 26 as well as other links elsewhere

...which supports the idea of increased water users correlating with an increase in attacks.

As well as southace's belief...

southace said...on page 12

I personalty belive that it's a combination of a human population rise and Ocean stock decline that is leading to a possible small increase of current attacks.

Don't take this as a personal attack, I'm merely referring to comments made as part of the 'discussion', I don't mind someone contradicting themselves, we're all prone to this when new evidence comes to light which disagrees with our previous views, but we shouldn't be so high and mighty about our views to begin with.

I try to approach with an open mind all that is said here, that is what makes a good discussion, the ability to see things from the other person's perspective.

Nope i said that, but the two are different. Their isn't just one cause for everything even though you want a 1 fix solution..To be honest i don't think their is a solution that I believe is usable, other than STAY OUT OF THE WATER IF YOU THINK THE RISK IS TOO HIGH FOR YOU
HYPOTHETICALLY?
How you you attack me if i felt that Cars are too much of a risk, so i started to petition to have cars banned from all use

No contradiction, if you read the text below what i posted it says that article was only posted for the heading. I didn't even read it, i just thought it was funny because it pointed at a bunch of scared people who want a fix, even if it is just a Placebo

Why would i? Thats not me, as i stand for what i say, i follow through what i think and people who have any sort of idea would understand that. I have no problem having different ideas than others, but I'm allowed to have my opinions..Just as you are, no matter what they are..

Interesting.
So you're saying we should disregard things you post.

BTW, it's not the only thing/link you've posted that supported your initial view that more people in the water = more attacks.
Which you later contradicted with the post www.washarkattacks.net/swimming-deaths.php

But hey, since you say you post stuff without regard, then we know how to take your input in the 'discussion'.

JBshack is one of the only dudes that is passionate about our oceans and seeks to protect all within, He obviously has been working on this situation way before this thread was posted......

As for some others that have just joined into such discussion with no real idea other than googled and studied every possible lead in past few weeks all they bring to the table is old worn out news.

However It is nice that they have discovered a new intrest and I hope they have learnt something from the discussion!

BUT for a junior with very little experince attacts jb clearly shows that some on here are just trying to stir the pot... What the hell does selling boats got to do with a guys views on keeping our waters safe?

We went through all this last year and jbhack was saying all the same stuff,.. over and over,... and over,........ and,... over.

And if it turns out that nothing is done to fix the problem,. we will be back here next year saying the same stuff.

Passion is only one aspect, and not enough on it's own.

To get anything done, you need the support of people, preferably in large numbers.

An outline of action to achieve desired outcomes, and providing a way for it to be taken so that it makes it easy for people to kick in support is the only way to do it.

Anyone with strong enough passion to start the chain reaction?

Haha and you really think the large numbers of support come from on line forums..

To be clear, most people i deal with i try not to let them know i post of forums, because that normally be littles my credibility

One of the newest discovers in the last few weeks has been that our State Government, back in 2002 removed Fish from the Animal Welfare act? That is now being challenged and if that is reversed then your drums idea may be out the window. Thats one legal movement. The big issue could be if that gets held up in court, than anyone participating in any cull could be in a bit of bother….

I have started dialogue with a few Southwest commercial fishers as well..To be honest I'm very happy that avenue as they seem to be a great bunch of folk who have a good grasp of whats what

I just come in here to play with you Kiteboy..

I held off for a while cause I have a life and there was some aggression coming out from other people, it's not my intention to inflame the issue, but it does seem to be yours.

The discussion goes on, so I try to contribute, but you admit that you're only here to stir.
