If I were to believe that it was a controlled demo, how did the pyros sneak around inside the office (probably wearing hi-viz safety gear!) drilling explosions into the structure, then cabling the detonators (although possibly remote detonation) without any of the workers knowing? Have you ever heard an industrial masonry drill???

Almost right there. Wasn't our heaving bosoms from seabreeze, least I don't think so. Nevertheless most of the global population is distracted to the degree where they do not kow if they are Arthur or Martha.

But didn't Hertodotus say the same thing about the empiralisation of Rome and bemoan the loss of its republican roots ?

It is an old arguement, of which every generation has determine has occured during its own age, and that the past was freer and greater than the present.

If this were true then society would have imploded by now in an exponentially spiralling descent into tirany. It hasn't, unless I missed something.

Thus I conclude the premise is something grown from human evolution and the fear of it occuring, not from the reality of its occurance.

The clip seems to show some decrease in amplitude over time. I believe this is not due to film editing, but to some natural effect.
