The point I want to rise is that willing followers are as guilty as their inspirational guru.
All this creatures you mentioned above could achieve nothing if don't have thousand of willing followers.
The mistake you are making is not isolated. The higher ranking people on this planet do exactly the same. You think you shut Hiltler, Pol pot Bin Laden and problem gone forever. We did shot Bin Laden and the problem is bigger then any time earlier.
The main strategy should be instead isolating this maniacs from populist mass that could follow.
We are loosing the war in Afghanistan, because people there hate us.
For every killed civilian.
The best jobs are our guys did there were building infrastructure , schools , hospitals , even teaching Afghan own security forces. All this in the free time between going and shooting to people.
If we did drop iPods from our bombers, solar power laptops , gardening books how to grow the crops, shovel and forks, for the same money we did spent for laser guided bombs the war will be all gone already.
That is not a fault of our young, brave soldiers that gave all the best they could from them self , sometimes their own life included. The fundamental error is in strategy not tactics.
