Most of us ride Easterlies or head to Baja in Winter(or both...) I haven't notice much advantage to current against wind ... except it's easier to go upwind & swells are better...

Can I ask what your weight is?

I am about 104kgs. Previous board was a 5x27x90L nuggety Sunova v1 wing. The carver is definitely a bit less stable but not by a huge amount. I would rate it as overall easier to use than the short wide board because it gets going so easily. I am using a stinkbug technique and have had it out in solid 25 knots ocean chop still getting going no worries.

Today I had 3 wingers, 56kg, 75kg, and 85kg try a 6'2 x 20.5 x 85 liter. All 3 thought it was easiest, and most fun, board they had tried.

I've been interested in these shapes as light wind boards.I've built a couple now. My fav is 6'6 x 21". I thought it would just be a light wind board, keeping my regular 5'6x26" for windy lumpy days.

I find the 6'6 is now the only board I have been using. As expected great light wind board. I find it good when the wind gets stronger as it foils up really quickly, almost point and shoot. I don't pump board as much, and it glides through the messy chop better not wanting to slow down on the back of swell. On foil it feels fine, feet more middle of board so no great nose sticking out. Touch downs are better.

Down side at 21" wide it is tippy in heavy chop, I do slide of it, harder to recover than a wider board, gets pushed by swell more. Best way to get going is have board straight down wind giving most stability before standing up. Foot is right on rails.
I've used it from 8-30knts. Flat to choppy side swell. Axis HPS. Im 81kg dry, intermediate. Guessing volume 90lts, sits low in water but not below water. Biggest advantage is speed on to foil, at 59 need all the help I can get.

I didn't have a chance to try the Sultan Wing but I have the Carver 5'10" 85L.

Yesterday I rode the Carver with North HA1050 and swapped the board on the water with 2 of my friends who want to try my board. They rode 1st gen AFS Blackbirds one with 6'2" 90L Blackbird + AFS Silk 850 and another with 6'4" 110L Blackbird with AFS Pure HA1100

Both blackbirds are wider than my Carver and much more stable and much easier on the rough sea. One of my friends can't foil on my Carver at all in 15 minutes. The condition is rough with messy wind chops + cross swell.

The Carver is a faster board on the water they both agreed.

So been on my Amos Sultan prone 5'5x19x65l 5 tines now, 3 flat sessions and 2 choppy x on wave days.

Love it, quick to foil, fantastic roll response, v light, not too hard at all with width reduction, a session or two to get the balance of it, but big gains from extra length that stops pearling.

Bounces up on touch downs, don't think I need my 80l bosrd anymore. I'm 80kg.
