Blade has arrived. Therefore the wind's guaranteed not to exceed 10 knots during daylight hours for the foreseeable future...
It's a 6.8. Anyone is welcome to have a go (after I've christened it of course!)
However good luck getting your hands on one of this size before Oct/Nov when the 2009 models come out -- I think demand has outstripped supply!
Have to wait for new models,
as I am not in position to change down mast to RDM and get a cam sail as well.
2008/09 model manufactured to take SDM![]()
Well that raises the question, is it possible to switch cams on the 2008 model?
Will have to check neb's 6.8 out.
This guy's been trying out the 2009 switchblades:

Personally I think if you've made the switch to RDM for your wave gear (which is pretty much universally accepted as the way to go) then there's no point doubling up all your masts for the speed stuff. So speed sails that use RDM's are a good thing ![]()
Btw when I was researching what sail to get, Loft Blade are the only race sails that you can get in sizes bigger than about 6.5 that use RDM's. If you want cams and a skinny for bigger sails then your only other choice is an Ezzy Infinity... which only comes with 2 cams!
However this is changing, I was interested to see that the Naish Stealths (4 cammed race sails) use skinnies up to 6.4. I wouldn't be surprised to see more bigger race sails coming out soon that are designed for skinnies. Loft have pretty much cornered the market for this product.
And just for the record this one is a 2007 demo, I had the spondoolas all ready for a 2008 spanker, but there aren't any left in the country ![]()
I cannot wait to see the long heralded Blade, may be a bold choice though Sun? Be good to see you Bender, location to be confirmed closer to the time I guess.![]()
I've got a slice and slide modified elmo fin to try out, maybe tomorrow.
Hey nebs, are you christening the blade tomorrow????
yeah, 100mm, 100grit, chews thru it in no time, but there are a couple of spots I took one sweep too many, will need a little bit of bog to get it right, but it should be good enough as it is to test.
