Blade has arrived. Therefore the wind's guaranteed not to exceed 10 knots during daylight hours for the foreseeable future...

Think positive guys, it's 6.8m it'll either blow it's tits off so he can't use it like sunday, or becalmed and none of us will sail

It's a 6.8. Anyone is welcome to have a go (after I've christened it of course!)

However good luck getting your hands on one of this size before Oct/Nov when the 2009 models come out -- I think demand has outstripped supply!

Have to wait for new models, as I am not in position to change down mast to RDM and get a cam sail as well.

Aussie supplier has advised the new models will take SDM only last week when I asked.
Gee I hope he wasn't bullsh!ting me
Here was his reply to my email.
Further to my previous email – if you can wait to our 2009 range comes out in October/November we may be able to solve your problem with a Blade running on SDM.
Early days re details. It will be called the 'Switch Blade' and come with 4 cams, 2 ndm and 2 rdm, customer to switch.

Well that raises the question, is it possible to switch cams on the 2008 model?
Will have to check neb's 6.8 out.

He (Aus supplier)did explain it like this when I asked.

The Blades are mast specific (very!) as compared with the Loft 02’s which are not mast specific (very mast tolerant).

The Blade cam profile is designed for the RDM masts and also the SDM mast would be out of kilter with the batten length.

Although we could check it out with Nebs sail[}:)]
Pugwash uses them, also TonyC. They both have this years models

This guy's been trying out the 2009 switchblades:
www.gps-speedsurfing.com/default.aspx?mnu=user&val=31059&uid=1953?mnu=user&smnu=equipment&uid=1953

Personally I think if you've made the switch to RDM for your wave gear (which is pretty much universally accepted as the way to go) then there's no point doubling up all your masts for the speed stuff. So speed sails that use RDM's are a good thing

Btw when I was researching what sail to get, Loft Blade are the only race sails that you can get in sizes bigger than about 6.5 that use RDM's. If you want cams and a skinny for bigger sails then your only other choice is an Ezzy Infinity... which only comes with 2 cams!
However this is changing, I was interested to see that the Naish Stealths (4 cammed race sails) use skinnies up to 6.4. I wouldn't be surprised to see more bigger race sails coming out soon that are designed for skinnies. Loft have pretty much cornered the market for this product.

And just for the record this one is a 2007 demo, I had the spondoolas all ready for a 2008 spanker, but there aren't any left in the country

Ok Guys like Mineral said there's a new model loft sail coming the Switchblade.
Its a 2 cam version of the Blade that will come with 2 RDM & SDM cams.
hope that clears things up.

yeah, 100mm, 100grit, chews thru it in no time, but there are a couple of spots I took one sweep too many, will need a little bit of bog to get it right, but it should be good enough as it is to test.

No doubt it'll come out sweet after you've lovingly carressed the "Elmo" marks out of it
