gee i wish i had this guys gear instead off my new stuff...his seems to hold value much better with 1988 technology than the 2009 stuff....lol

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/SAILBOARDS-x-2-PLUS-5-x-SAILS-3-x-BOOMS-ETC_W0QQitemZ130322571036QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Sport_Surfing?hash=item1e57d49f1c&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

I will sail nude across bay if anyone pays that price for that gear

Is that a promise - might just be worth paying $1500 to see that

I'm starting to worry about you Old Salty - First the painted nails, now your wanting to watch naked men sail across the bay............. it's a worry. I'm hoping it's all due to the lack of windsurfing lately....

No that there's anything wrong with that

Hey, so where are you windsurfing this weekend? I'm not sure what to make of the forecast.

Yeah - forecast is a bit all over the place at the moment. Was thinking of leaving the call as late as possible. Yesterday I was thinking Saturday and today I am thinking Sunday. Inverloch has disappeared off my radar, so I am thinking Rye and God forbid Lysterfield. Drift has had a reasonable sail their recently??

See what?

It's August. The bay temperature is 11.5C.

You'd be paying $100 for every millimetre

If you are going to go nude, you had better use the gear on offer!
I doubt 20 year old mylar sails will hold together for very long
And you will be luck to get it planing. That should make for a slow crossing so Mr. Salty gets his moneys worth

Gotta admit I actually got a few runs in @ Lysterfield last weekend where the winds didn't swing 360 degrees! Sailed with a bloke called Kieran who was getting some nice speeds as well.
Peak was 24.95kts, Water Temp: F#$king Freezing, Stacks: 300+!

I reckon we can kill two birds with one stone. We should make a club purchase on the fine windsurf gear for sale on ebay. That way Old salty will get his opportunity to look at naked windsurfers. We could then use the gear to sacrifice to the wind gods or use as the only gear we can use for the speed challenge... (Surely if the gear was fast 20 years ago it's gonna be faster now????)

i am really offended by these comments... back in 1994 i think i won my only windsurfung trophy by sailing with a bare ass from Rye launch to pier and back as the wind for the comp had dropped....unfortunatley when i approached the pier there were hundred of people viewing the tall ships. Bloody fancy dress windsurfing comps....hope the WV ones arnt the same as the hair on the butt doesnt look any better now

Maybe we need a telethon like the Good Friday Appeal so we can get enough $$$ to buy the gear and get H20's arse back out swinging in the breeze....

It's perfectly normal. It's the body's way of preserving heat by limiting blood flow to the extremities....

It's why people don't windsurf naked

BOM is saying a SW change still mid Sunday. But as you say, leaving it until the last moment is probably wise by the looks of things.

A thousand bucks to anyone who can come up with a cunning plan to convince my missus that she doesn't need me tagging along buying household furnishings over the weekend....Salty - given your prediliction for painted nails, fashion and soft furnishings, maybe you could let me have the number of your personal shopper/stylist to take the pressure off me?

call of the day.....

i reckon that as there is no wind you two should either1) get a room or 2) jelly wressle 3) wait for wind and sort it out on the water. Option 3 is definately in everyones best interest.

Blow wind gods ...blow

Did you know that there is an entire section in David Jones that sells cheesegraters? Did you know that, Mick? Because I bleedin' do now. Whilst you lot were out honing your skills, I was forcibly told to have an opinion on which cheesegrater we needed to buy, and told to smarten my attitude up cos it was only 9.15 and we ''hadn't even started yet''. Did you also know that some people actually spend as much on a cheesegrater as most normal people spend on a new boom? Yes, its both possible and, as I almost witnessed in full technicolour detail, it doesn't just happen to other people. I got her to compromise and we ended up with a mid-tier grater that's absolutely excellent at, erm, grating cheese. In fact, it does the same job as the grater that we left at home in the UK (with the rest of our worldly possessions) when we accidentally managed to emigrate by mistake. This grater cost me a quid when I was a student and has been 1st rate for 20 years. It was then onto bedding, pans, pots, pot towels etc. I ended up looking at whether it was possible to fashion a noose from a pile of Egyption cotton sheets - but my dreams of euthanising in DJ's was brought to an abrubt end when I was told to pay for something called 'Cashmere dinner plates'. With respect, what the &%$" wrong with a white set from Sarf Melbourne market with the difference in the $$ value going to replacing my barge?

Out of interest, what is the most outrageously expensive and almost completely useless piece of crap that others have been forced into buying by your other half who simply doesn't appreciate the cost/value calculation that goes into buying a new sail?
