thinking about hitting the surf this weekend.
does anyone know any good wave spots for an ESE around caloundra? the bar will be dead onshore.
has anyone sailed bribie side in an ESE?
or maybe neil st/dickies?
lol,
never sailed neil street. used to body board there every weekend so know the break fairly well.
had to ask the brave locals for some of the wrap on the site.
i grew up sailing the sunshine coast.
ESE was speed sailing along the bank at the pond. but that just isn't fun after the whole thing chocked up. will prob go to neil st. ![]()
i have to push my fantastic new board to the limit. or should that be my limit. ![]()
Heh Gesty
Neil street is very cool on the right wind... ESE can be a to onshore. particually if the wind is light.
Have sailed Moffats on very strong ESE. Awesome break, but very compedative with long boarders, short boarders, stand ups and sit downs and the occasional body surfer with fins. If the wind is strong, most of the time the outer break is vacant as it gets very chopped up.
Also stay out of the headlands wind shadow
.. bitter experience ![]()
Hi Justin - Neil street is a great spot in SE (south & ESE are also OK) There is a nice park to rig and getting out through the shore break is usually not to bad. the locals usually sail up to Moffats if the wave up there looks good but the outer reef at Neil st is also a good spot. You usually get some nice jumps and wave riding is dependant on swell & tides. It is usually better and safer than the caloundra bar.
cheers adrian,
i just spoke with pete and he said you guys had some good conditions on monday.
am still thinking of heading up over the weekend and sailing the outer reef. should be fairly easy for numpties like me with the small swell around.
cool, yeah panda the more the merrier.
i'll try and hook up a sup as well. will also call you kerry.
are you coming also climber? and i guess notwal needs an invite?
might bump into you there also adrian?
will scope for bbq's for future wanderers meets and bring the cameras.
google earth location,

also in google earth you can turn on ocean in the layers panel on the left.
That sounds good - just hope we get the wind. Monday was a good day with 5 or 6 guys sailing. A few of the guys sailed up to Moffats, some on the outer reef and the others surfing the break close to shore - plenty of variety and not too difficult. hopefully see you on the weekend.
I have clearance from ground control (better half) for either day
.
I'd like to meet notwal. I'm still pondering your spacetime question from months ago.
Justin, We have attemped to run an event at Moffats in the past.
There are heaps of options for BBQ's, either at Dicky Beach, Moffat Headland and I'm pretty sure there might be something at Neil St as well.
Problem with the area is it's popularity, last time we tried it was packed and we couldn't get parking. There was also a Mal club comp on at Neil St which totally blocked that up.
On the up side, Moffats is a great break for some fun on a SUP.
Yeah, Neil St Saturday. I'm up for that :).
I've wondered about that reef out the back between Moffat and Dickies. I sailed over it years ago but I was bit concerned about losing a fin. I suppose there's some local knowledge in the crew ?
i won't be there until early arvo.
i have also organised a sup we can put a rig on if the wind is lightish.
i'd take my BZ but don't have any fins anymore. ![]()
