The graphs look terrible, i was thinking of road tripping down to pt Macquarie but it seems nobody has wind for the weekend ):
Moreton Bay Waters:
Saturday: Wind: NE 10/15 knots ahead of a 15/20 knot SE change during the morning, tending E'ly 10/15 knots in the evening. Sea: 0.9 metres. Isolated showers and thunderstorms.
Sunday: Wind: N/NE 10/15 knots, lighter winds at first.
Looks grim, but not as grim as the seabreeze graphs.
Seabreeze on Sunday?
expected to kick off again wed/thur next week when the high gets to NZ,
big question is what will the cyclone do as sometimes they block the highs coming through. ![]()
Hey Gesty, what cyclone is that, only one I can see is off the WA nth coast??
But here's hoping...........
yeah that's the one, weather moves west to east and sometimes wwhen you get a big cyclone off WA it stops anything coming through and we get no wind for a couple of weeks.
not saying that that will happen though and models saying that it won't
there is currently some activity in the NE coral sea so we might get something in a fortnight. fingers crossed..... ![]()
around this time of year i start lurking in weatherzone forums in the coral sea thread. it goes all season and is dedicated to cyclone activity. i have learnt huge amounts about lows/cyclones reading the weatherzone stuff over the past 4 years or so.
they also talk about the different models available and which ones seem to be the most accurate.
interestingly, the european models seem to be the most reliable when it comes to lows. i beleive seabreeze uses said models also. or something very similar.... that's why seabreeze is so good at predicting wind through the SE's season and the Westerlies.
Hey Gesty, the lows in the UK are what gave us wind to sail, rarely got hot enough to give seabreezes.
i don't know how you did it! too cold.. ![]()
the 2 years i lived in the UK i never went windsurfing once. probably missed out but the beer seemed better than the water. ![]()
i like a good NE'r but all of my memorable sessions in qld have been during the lows. i love em!
I used to wear plenty of rubber, and that wasn't just in Newquay on a Saturday night. Heres one for ya.... 15kts high pressure and 15kts low pressure, low seemed to have more strength, any thoughts air density etc?
Your right about it being cold, once i wore my 5/3mm wetsuit all year, having said that i was in boardies and rash the next year. The water might be colder but windsurfing is very popular over there.
yeah scully, to be honest i can't get my head around that bit.
i would have thought that 15 knots is 15 knots. definaetly dense air has more power.
but for eg i would have thought that 15 knots high would be equivalent to say 12 knots low for eg. but becasue 12 knots low has more density it reads as 15 knots on the gauge.
hmm. re-read that and it seems to not be as clear as i thought.
what i meant was that 15 knots low pressure wind is 15 knots high pressure wind as the density difference with either pressure system has a direct result on wind speed.
but other guys on the forum that have a science background think that 15 knots wind low pressure system is more powerfull than 15 knots high pressure system.
slightly different subject but do you know of a windsurf shop in bris called goodtimes?? and if so where is it?
wwoolloonnggabbaa
like 200 metres south of the bus depo. just look for clutter
EDIT; gestalt reeply my email plz
Im new to bris so sorry to be a pain but do you know a street number, i found board crazy ( very helpfull, great shop ) but i cant find goodtimes. Man i love all these windporn shops; its fantastic.
its windy here on the gc at moment. must be gusting 20
bit wind at kingaroy www.bom.gov.au/products/IDQ60901/IDQ60901.94549.shtml
ikw77 u won`t have to summize where or how to get your boarding rush where your going soon I believe W.A. is brilliant this time of year. Don`t bother with anything above a 4.5m sail and just stay at coronation beach `mind blowing` the best waves and safe on the inside for cuising on the inside just watch out for the Euros. U LUCKY BUGGER![]()
