Well done Bayside, it is always great to turn up events and see all of those sails on the water. I am sure this is the best way to promote the sport.

So back to how we get the girls involved???

It has puzzled me for a while as to why there is a massive bias toward male windsurfers. At first I thought it was too technical with all of the rig settings etc but there is a really big female following in dingy sailing and that must surely be as demanding in that respect.

I have seen an improvement in recent years but the female sailors are still a rare sight. Any insight from others, especially the females. Also, you do tend to see mare female kite surfers, what is the go with that?

Fantastic to see the support for this style of racing, the club has done a great job to cater for all levels of sailors. Would definately encourage anyone thinking about having a go to get into it. The new start sequence makes for really clean racing in the freeride division and plenty of fun. As long as I beat Chris that's all that matters!

I'm tell you fellas... You need to wear boardies over your wetsuits and the kiter girls will be calling faster than you can imagine to windsurf!

News just in. We had a new club turn out record 39 racers on the day with a few newbies joining in for the first time. Now I know that there were at least another 6 absent. So it is possible that we may hit the 50 mark for the state titles in March

Not too brag but that is more than were at the recent formula nationals. Just shows how strong our club is getting and that Qld is becoming the premier slalom state.

I'll be there at the next round, came out to watch for a while this past weekend and was kicking myself that all my gear is still in NSW. May even get the mrs out on the water too :D

Before I became a mum I did a lot more racing-now the kids take up a lot of time.
I've found something that I can do now that fits in with the family and allows me to compete against 24 and rising other windsurfing girls. The most girls I ever competed with in Qld was about 6

With regards to female kitesurfers-have to admit there are a lot more young hot male kitesurfers around than windsurfers these days for the girls to admire
Also it is easier to learn

Well done KA and also to the other WQ members I recognised there Joanna and Michelle Stirling and Julie Fyfe for coming 4th, 5th and 7th respectively. It looks like a competitive field.

So from the feedback what we need to do to get the females involved is to wear more trendy shorts and get the young guns involved, either that or get Richiefish to start sailing sans shirt...

I can't beleive the 50 year old guy who sails Manly in a full lycra suit isn't doing it for you girls. I must admit that my wife put down her lunch when he walked past the car one day, it was like a cat in a bag down there - the fashion police must have been on their day off.

On the up side, Bart had some pretty green shorts on so we may be on the way to getting the girls on side again. Perhaps we can get Simon (Beefcakes) Fyfe in a pair of trendy shorts and all our problems will be solved.

Is probably the graphics card, my PC has a built in graphics card and wont play it either other then that I have up to date software and video codecs.

I had a bit of stopping and starting but it was very cool footage and a view not many people would see of the races. It must have been quite a pain to ride facing backward for all that distance.

thanks for letting me know all the same.

not sure that the video card is relied upon for decoding the clip, i think it's mainly cpu, but u may be right. would be nice to know who of you has a dual / quad coreor single core cpu, and what player you are using?

Stutters on my (elderly) Athlon 2600.

Your video is 1920x1080 res which is huge and a tough ask for a lot of older computers and a few newer ones I think. Asolutely flogs my cpu. It's also above the resolution of the majority of monitors out there. When viewed on a 1280x1024 monitor a lot of the picture is off the screen.

For example (you probably know) normal DVD res is 720x576.

I have to reprocess your videos to a smaller res before I can watch them using videolan.

BTW good job on sailing while looking backwards!
