Well the South easters are here and we are pushing forward to get some great racing in for the second half of the season.
This weekend we are heading to wellington point for round four of the Slalom series.
Please see notice of Race http://www.baysidesailboards.com.au/notice/roundfour.pdf
Wellington point has a lot more for the kids so it would be great to see more families come along and enjoy the day.
The forecast is looking good, with a SE change moving through Sat and holding for Sunday. Wello is excellent in these conditions and should not be too challenging, which means the racing will be hot.![]()
A number of guys are back from their christmas hiatus so lets try and get a full fleet.
Oh, looks like finally a race I might be able to make. Doesn't look like good wind down on gold coast for sailing waves on sunday.
Can anyone refresh me on what I need appart from usualy sailing gear?
PFD? I got a waterskiing one, i think PFD3, is that ok?
$10.
Sail numbers? I don't have any, just some electrical tape is fine?
Anything else?
Re: Sail numbers to get away with you can buy from boat store at $1 a number or something, not perfect but not nothing either.
PFD3 is fine, alot just wear impact vests, some crazy people named Mike probably wear lead as well ![]()
MK - I'm ready for you this time
.
Swoosh any bouyancy vest is fine. Do you know your AUS number? If So the club carries a range of spare numbers. I think a set is about $5 or so. Give simon a call at boardcrazy to confirm if you need a set of numbers. Otherwise as long as your sail number is large and legible and on the starboard side that is all we ask. We have volunteers run the starts and they do not know the saiors personally - so we need to make it as easy for them as possible.
It should be a good day.
I managed to recover some manly racing helmet cam footage from a crashed hard drive on my PC. It's the bit where you lot are all chasing me coz i'm so far ahead
just uploading it now, i'll post the link in about 10 minutes. will be about 60mb size in highdef

Awesome. Don't know how you guys manage it in this wind! I would be lucky to stand on the sidelines!
REALLY nice clear footage! ![]()
Was Vando the first to sail past... Wish I knew who used what sail; I just go by 'stance'... I know... I know... I should know already.... ![]()
Not that I know sails, but was that Mikey in the blue sail at like 2min 20 who passed you! or another guy I see often at Wello; thinking it is the latter of the two.

Thanks to the crew for another great round of racing. Great to see so many at the start line.
Ta,
Hamish
Yep, that was a good turnout. It must be close to a record number of competitors, I heard a figure of 40 mentioned. Thanks again to the Bayside team and the ever professional start boat crew. Very nice sausages also to the cook, I've never seen someone put so much effort into making the perfect snag - much appreciated.
It's ok Darryl, I'm sure someone will tell you all about it when you come too... Nice Glasgow kiss on that boom.
It doesn't work very well on my laptop. ![]()
I can read it but it stops every 5 seconds...
Looks cool though ![]()
Yeah it Sure was a sick afternoon of windsurfing. I'm still wondering how Julien held onto the 9.0 in some of those races. Definitly Crazy and inspiring![]()
What a great afternoon of sailing. Plenty of broken gear...broken bodies and broken egos! Fantastic sailing. Well done to all that turned up and thanks heaps to all that helped out.
Very frustrating to beat Julien in a straight line only to have him plane past you every gybe mark!
Good to see the Freeride fleet hotting up too...some close racing in there from what I saw.
If anyone spotted a Ronstan Race Watch in the grass post meet that wasn't theirs I would be most appreciative of getting it back.
Post here and let me know?
Well done eveybody again.
Another great race turn out - with consistent 15kt-20kt winds. I know most rigged for the wind to die off but those first 3 races really showed the skill of the good guys. At one stage club pres simon fyfe went past me and i swear for at least 20-30 metres his board was not in the water, only about half the fin. And julien is just a freak - he weighs about as much as a wet sock and held that 9m all day.
The new start system really helped to clear the congestion and gave everyone a chance for a competitive start.
From my point of view
1 * 460 100% carbon mast broken $1000![]()
1* trip to private emergency for 5 stitches in the head $380.00![]()
my wife making me dinner in bed - priceless![]()
Thanks for the help guys, see you all at the next meet.
thanks again to the bayside club, fantastic day had by all. thanks also to Simon and Chris who provided me with so much entertainment on the day.
1. Perfect view of Simon T going straight through his sail and out the other side.
2. Chris T taking out the anchor rope on the start boat at full speed.
bring on the lake!
Thanks Pierre but it wasnt that easy there some stiff comp.
shame your not here you would have ejoyed yesterday
.
Was a great image...
All the windsurfers out racing; certainly had people talking.
Looks like a nice community you guys have going! ![]()
Congrats to Mr Vando and everyone; bit gusty but nice wind! ![]()
Guys... Shhhhhh... ![]()
Yes I do kitesurf, but have wanted to try windsurfing for a while now; just to see what its all about. One day soon... One day... ![]()
News just in. We had a new club turn out record 39 racers on the day with a few newbies joining in for the first time. Now I know that there were at least another 6 absent. So it is possible that we may hit the 50 mark for the state titles in March![]()
Not too brag but that is more than were at the recent formula nationals. Just shows how strong our club is getting and that Qld is becoming the premier slalom state
