How did all the kiters go ?
Watching from the boat over at the island for laps 2-4, I thought they did pretty well. They couldn't hang generally with the windies, and not even close to Brad and Vando (who were just on it), but considering I rarely see a kiter more than a few hundred metres from shore, it was great to see them out in the swell and chop. Gybing the race boards looked a bit hairy, but even so there were a couple of very nice arcs carved, and props to the guys on the twin tips, it looked like they had the hardest rides of the day.
Definitely need to encourage more kites for next year, would be great to see a really big mixed fleet, and we should try a couple more mixed races too. Maybe an Easter challenge and a welcome to spring race.
All-in-all it was a great sight out there.
