Hey salty, the judging is pretty straight forward, head out and sail at the end of each session the judges will pick who they thought was the best in that session. You will be judged on everything you do in that session, so jumps, rides, turns, spins and bribes...yeah they all count.

Also any competitor may be asked to provide some input into the judging of a division they are not competing in.

Mr Seks... To be fair to all and give everyone a good chance just the one category entry allowed. However that is not to say you can't spend every waking moment on the water, just be respectful to the guys that are being judged is all we ask. The main aim here is to have fun.

I have had a couple of guys from the Alley boardriders show some interest in doing some judging for us, otherwise it will competitors from other divisions.

The forecast:

from BOM...
Saturday: SE winds 20/25 knots.
Sunday: SE winds 15/20 knots.

And Coastalwatch is forecasting 5 to 6 ft for Saturday and 4 to 5 ft for Sunday.

Swell report for today from Coastalwatch...

Swell size: 3-5ft E
The swell is bigger and a bit uneven out of the E at around 3-5ft, with the odd bigger one. The winds are light from the SW now and are predicted to go SE later. The swell has plenty of push behind it and swimming is dangerous. There are few outside bombs on the beachies at TOS, from Mermaid to Tugun and D'bah early, but the points are the pick by far with a strong sweep at Burleigh and Currumbin and from Snapper to Kirra is the pick. Check out the latest Coastalwatch swell forecast.

Forecast is still looking good for both days. Below is a pic of the Alley from this morning...hmmmm nice

For sure.

But take into account that this is the BOM forecast...

Saturday: SE winds 20/25 knots. Seas to 2.3 metres on a 2 to 3 metre easterly
swell. Scattered showers.
Sunday: SE winds 15/20 knots.

Which I think has been a little more on the mark for the Gold Coast over the last few weeks.

I heard that Oli went out today, haven't heard about anyone else.

It's about 20 knots out side right now

Oh and will have a couple of guest judges from Surfing Services. They are keen to see what our guys can do with this swell.

And an update to the swell forecast: Saturday 6ft, Sunday 6ft+.... Wednesday 7ft+ (might have to take a day off work)

Bom is still forecasting 20/25 knots across the entire weekend.

Breaking your own mast is good, breaking someone else's mast may be even better hey Chris.

The tally as I know of it is...
4 masts
3 trashed sails
1 boom
and 1 full rig...mast, sail, boom, the lot all gone.

A full report for the event with the selection of the best pics will be part of the next issue of Oz Windsurf. I will endeavour to post some more of the pics that may not make the article over the next day or so.

How many kms swam you think jaime ? I recon I could take half the overall tally myself just checked with the gps, 3km from the alley to the second groin, twice! That's 6km in one session + the sail back upwind. Beat that one

I think Hudson did a few laps as well, and had a very close call with the rocks on the open beach. It's all about paying the dues boys...just part of sailing the Alley.
