spewing I missed it. Up in townsville and it wasn't even windy there!
Is there anything going on today - forecast looks prettyd dodgy but i'll come down if you think there'll be some sailing.
Your camera is amazing man, what kind of money does it cost to get a camera and lense that gives such amazing photos?
Perhaps the next step isnt a SUP but a camera that isnt smaller than my phone :P
finally did a few edits.
i uploaded the photos here http://tinypic.com/useralbum.php?ua=JmLkcoZ5TQbfU6YlI%2BJyQA%3D%3D for those that want to look at all of them.
^ lol, i didn't think you were actually going to try. ![]()

my setup was just under $2000 for the body and kit lens.
yesterday was the first time i've struggled with distance with the 300mm.
one of these days i'll get the 100-400 L lens like haircut's. for mow though i am very happy with my setup. does the job more time than not and the not time are probably me ![]()
for it's price, your lens is pretty good from what i read
personally i don't think the extra reach 100mm makes at the tele end is worth the extra $1200, nor is the slightly improved sharpness or aperture, but have to admit that CA and distortion is virtually non existent.
it's unfortunate that by spending double, you don't receive double. photography's law of diminishing returns![]()
yeah it's really is a great lens for the money. i am very happy with it. it's not quite as crisp as the L lens and anything over 250mm zoom it really suffers.
if i keep zoom under 250 and use a 5.6-6.3 stop i have no complaints. one thing i've learnt that regardless of gear, being able to track the subject properly makes the biggest difference.
are you saying that the images out of your camera are nearly the same as the ones out of mine pre edit or post edit?
speaking of editing software. the old graduated fake sky filter was used in a few of my shots.
i mean my raw shots straight from cam look as bland as yours straight from cam. tough job for a lens to focus in all that haze we had so i wouldn't be too hard on your lens ![]()
if it's any help, here's a full crop at 400mm
and full image
your edited ones look great gestalt
you must have stayed up all night to doctor up all those ones on the tinypic site
and such clear blue skies ![]()
Nice images Justi(a)ns!
A picture is worth a thousand words.
(...and with photoshop even more.)
Good work Gazza, Ollie and Old Mate though.![]()
Hey there gesalt and haircut your guys images have inspired me to try and take some photos of windsurfing as well. Took these on saturday and just mucked round on photoshop with them let me know what ive done wrong and your thoughts as its only second time on photoshop and first time really trying to shoot windsurfing pics.
hi trav, i'm always keen to throw ideas around. start a fresh thread and i'll chime in with loads of opinions. ![]()
does anyone have any reports from today or from the podium of the comp?
Thanks for the photos guys there awesome!
Quite a few beers worth there I think ![]()
Wind was "very lite" it took a few goes at getting out, But was well worth the effort after the first wave ![]()
lol, mate that first wave of yours was an absolute cracker!!!!!! it was massive and you just took the drop. ![]()
The waves got the sail a couple of times
lucky I got it back up out of them or it would of been a bit of a swim ![]()
heres an idea. You guys should get on the back of a jetski for some "in the water amongst it" shots !..?..![]()
nice one haircut. ![]()
yeah richie you're right. something i would love to try. is costly though,
i'd need
$1600 for the housing
$250 for the lens port
$150 for the 50mm prime
or i could get a 100-400 L series.
now i just need the cash. ![]()
