The Currumbin Classic 2010 is on again.
Neilpryde and SEQ Wavesailing will again present the Currumbin Classic on the weekend of the 20th and 21st March 2010.

The event will be held on Currumbin Beach, and the same as last year will be run as a two day expression session to maximise time on the water and enjoyment for all.
Those that didn't make it along last year missed out on some of the best Currumbin has to offer, don't make that mistake again.
A full write up on last years event can be seen here - www.ozwindsurf.com.au/index.php?curPage=pages.articles.issue_9.classic_stuff

More information such as further sponsors details and a full program will be available in coming weeks...
Plans are well underway and it's shaping up to be a good weekend.
We are still finalising the sponsors, once that is done I will post details of who is on board.
I will also be putting up details for pre-registration shortly.
It's all go, same format as last year.
I will have registration forms up by the end of the weekend for those that want to get in early.
sik vid... whats the sound track??
also whats the soundtrack to the angulo cape verde vid you have on your blog???
So a week out and the early predictions are looking good, very good!!!
Could we get better than last year???
Anyway, the event will again run over the two days. Sign on will be before 11am on Saturday morning. We will also run an AGM for the SEQ Wave Sailing Club on Saturday morning at 10:30am for club members.
The event will be run the same as last year in that as soon as it blows just get on the water, at the end of the two days a few of the club members along with some ring-in judges will decide the winners of each division. At this stage the divisions will be open, masters and amateur. If we happen to get some women or juniors enter we may open up these divisions as well.
If the conditions continue to shape up the way they are at the moment it will be an event not to miss.
Many thanks to the sponsors on board so far - Neil Pryde, JP-Australia, Surf FX, Oz Windsurf and Keiki Images. Oh and the Red Bull girls will be along again giving out drinks and providing us with some shade.
The location is Currumbin Beach, just south of the point.
The entry fee is $50, that will include a t-shirt (however due to a large number of last years shirts left over we will be sending these out post the event) and last year we had enough prizes that everyone walked away with something. Oh and did I mention the Red Bull girls!!!
Scully, at this stage you would be in the amateur division. If you have never been in waves before at the very least this will offer a great opportunity to check the boys in action. And if the conditions are suitable a great way to get some tips, however at this early stage the forecast looks like it will not be a day for the feint at heart.
hey scully , maybe those two girls you met at manly were winfsurfing groupies and were wanting to rent something other than sails n boards![]()
Epic forecast this week!!!!!!!!!!
MMM our Mar Pacifico ![]()
The sea of peace is not going to be peaceful on the weekend [}:)]
yes hmmm about currumbin on saturday good luck too all hopefully i can make make it. in think at this stage there will be no-one sailing mabey some tow-in boys coastal watch is forcasting 10-12 ft and they dont usually over estimate these things. anyways might see ya down there
Just had a squiz at Currumbin lunchtime, and it looks good. Work today though, have to wait until tomorrow to sail.
6 to 8 last year and I have seen Currumbin sailed in bigger surf than that.
It can hold 10 no worries. It's shaping up to be epic.
Hey Jamie and co,
How does a big n/e swell go at the alley, it was southerly last year wasn't it?
Wouldn't a n/e swell just close out at that side of the rocks, so you would have to sail on the southern side?
I don't think I can get off work but see what happens.
Maybe a day trip?
Cheers
Rob
It's generally regarded that the swell window for the alley is SE through NE, so the weekend shouldn't be an issue.
Actually a bit more east in the swell from what we had on the weekend might be good, I know a few weeks back we had a decent size east swell it was lining up really nice, just no wind.
I have to say that at this stage you have absolutely nailled the weekend for the comp.
Can I borrow that crystal ball please ?
Should be spectacular.
Yes the comp is still on, the format is sail as soon as it's windy.
The swell isn't the 10ft predicted, currently Currumbin is 4 to 6 and should stay that way for the rest of the day. The BOM prediction for wind is 20/30 however Seabreeze is 15. If it get to just enough for a grovel out I know there will be some action.
Official sign on is before 11am today and from there it will be an all day expression session. Sail when you want and we will pick the stand outs at the end. We will be set up around the carpark that faces the back beach, I'm sure there will be a couple of tents so shouldn't be too difficult to find.
Don't forget, if you want to have your say in shaping the direction of the SEQ Wavesailing Club the AGM will be held at 10:30.
