Getting belted at sanctuary point, wish I had a 4.0....crazy, crazy stuff. Gust to 40 and holding on...way to scared to jump out of fear of flying away.

Dolls point from 11 to 2 was moderately windy, never overpowered on 4.7. Too flat for good jumps.

I'm building a job at blacktown& a table tennis table comes off the wall rolls across garage tips over going out door blows over right onto customers bonnet . I'm going windskating now & have a couple of hrs work tomorrow at Newport so I thought maybe narrabeen will load up boards without wheels tonight

Didn't get any better later in the day. Sailed there from 3:30 till 5:00. Powered up on a 4.7 but it was supposedly windier a little earlier.

I first checked La Perouse. Wind was almost southerly there and blowing solid 40knts. Swell was about mast high breaking almost double mast off bare island. It actually was so big there was a wave breaking a wrapping around the launch spot. Probably should have just sailed there.

On a different note, there was a rescue operation underway. Apparently someone lost their windsurf gear out near the break wall. No one else out at that time. Talked to police officer on the beach and she said the person called his wife via a mobile in a water proof pouch. They had two helicopters, a boat and a jet ski looking. Luckily and to my relief they found the guy and he seemed ok.

I was the one getting rescued. The mast base slipped out of the track due to slight incompatibilities in the Euro/US fittings. I needed a spanner to undo the nut as I couldn't unscrew it by hand. Tried to jam them together but the wind blew the board out of my hands. I got within centimetres of reaching it, but then it blew away and quickly lost to sight. Prior to that, I was keeping away from the breakwater in case of equipment problems. but even so I wasn't sure at that point if I would avoid getting mashed on the concrete. As it turned out I was slowly getting pushed by the wind and tide to the centre of the beach, so I didn't really need a rescue, though it would have taken a couple of hours to get ashore.

I was surprised that the sail didn't sink and I was able to swim to it and stayed with it. Whenever I've broken a mast before, it has wanted to head for the bottom very quickly. The water police were able to retrieve the sail, and the board washed up on the beach, so no loss of gear. Many thanks to all those involved in the rescue.

It was the second session of the day for me and the conditions were really good with a big swell sweeping into Yarra Bay.

I'd avoid Canton until the weed clears up. Some people were blasting in the weed but many had some spectacular catapults when they hit a big thick bit. I wasn't prepared to risk it so waded out to almost the shallow markers ( too thick to be bothered trying to work out.) Once there it was ok but of course a bit choppier and not glass smooth.

I was worried all the way down - I'm going to die it's going to be 35kts + etc etc rigged small just in case and of course it never happened so I was a bit underpowered most of the time.[}:)]
Lesson - rig for what's there don't worry about the predicted forecast!
A few new faces there yesterday- not a good intro to the place. Come back when it's it's usual self.. It would have been fantastic yesterday if it was!

Yes it was a bit weedy to say the least on Friday.

If you were able to get further out the weed was not as bad but still you had to be wary especially when gybing. I did a gybe and was getting my feet into the front strap and ready to harness in when i hit a large clump of weed and came to a complete stop and went over the front hitting my shin on the mast as I fell. Bugger...still had a few good runs using my 6.5 V8 and 105L Extreme. The 32 cm weed free was probably a tad too big but it's all I had for that combo.

Canton has been better in the past, but still was better than not sailing at all. Noticed the guys who sailed closer in to shore had pretty small weed frees like 19 cms. Made a big difference being able to stay planing.

Today was interesting but by no means epic. At least I got out on the water at Canton Beach and had a few planing runs.

Next week looks completely ****.

Haha. Me and Brian did 200ks of driving and didn't even get wet. Windang looked ****e.

Paid my dues at The Kick at Collaroy. Waves were logo high and I donated a sail to Huey. The board can be fixed and I only bounced off the rocks

I'm even going to go as far as give it a green thumb, mainly because your coping it on the head.

I was in a similar position a couple of times, when your the only one out its hard to leave he first wave of the set.

yeah, Dunk same spot.

shorey was just as ugly but plenty of wind s/se pretty easy launch for the guys.
