That's setting the bar a bit high hardie, I'm going to have to be windsurfing at 92 to get my 50years in.

Great to hear there's got some long time windsurfers out there and the speeds you guys are pulling is mind blowing
blew My mind ..never done GPS or speed times . Before ....but it's time ..

i do scream down the face of big ocean swell ..I'd be surprised on the speed .seem the fin is the only thing in the water at times ...

ONLY been sailing for 21 years .. surfed for 20, got sick of the crowd and spending half my life sitting around waiting for waves took up windsurfing ..best thing i ever done ,no more Agro .and dog eat dog . .good times ahead .keep the replies coming .

I though the first Windsurfers came out to Australia in the late '70's? Did you build your own?

I started in 1980/81. Hard to remember exactly. Holy cow, thats 35 years continuous. How time flies when you are having fun. No wonder my friends call my gear shed 'The Museum'

The 40TH Windsurfer Class Australian Championships is coming to Balmoral (Sydney) next January 2017, so 41 years is possible if JJ got one of the first ones of the boat.

Windsurfed in Durban RSA 1975 to 1979.

I think there were about 20 regulars - we had fibreglass clones of the Windsurfer

I thought this might make you smile. I didn't compete, just watched.

One R.Naish would've been in his early 20's I think. The lone Aussie in Mark Paul along with pretty much all the legends of the sport including some great women sailors!!!

And four sailors who still have their names on gear we buy today: Cabrinha, Simmer, Naish and Angulo

I've got a friend that has one. Just got him a 125 tabou rocket and modern sail.
He just needs tow to get used to it.Think the speed scares him.Not in the straps or harness properly yet.

Started in 1984 and haven't stopped......so far so good. Keeps me sane(ish).
