SO todays reports are

10:30 a 2.5 m
11:00 a 2.5 m
1:05 a 3m @ Mettams
1:10 a 2m at Toms.

Do people think this is the same shark or sharks (Because obviously their has been times when a pair have been seen together) their seems to be some discussion starting about wether a Bronze whaler or possibly a small Great white also, if the same shark then i guess we can see the difference between people guesstimates of size, it would be hard to pick between a 2.5 and 3 m shark. Once Great Whites start to grow above 3 m they really start to expand in girth as much as length.

If people think these are all different sharks, Then you'd really have to suggest just what is happening at that particular spot at this time..

You would suggest the report at Floreat of a Great White @ 1:09 would have to be a different shark.

Or is this just the same as every other year and this is just being promoted because of the reports to apps like Dorsal and SLSWA Ive never heard of anything like it, i may be wrong, but if so that would mean their has been a lot of shark activity around these waters that I've never heard off.

Im only asking as id like to get peoples ideas? I don't think this is the same old story, i think something new is happening here, just what i have no idea and looking for answer

maybe they can put a bullet in its head and see if there are anymore reports??

Would have thought fisheries would move it along by now, been hanging around for weeks.

Even though this is a smaller shark, less risk then the Great White, it would in a single bite rip your calf muscle out to a point you could lose a limb..

Which is why this shark should be destroyed, along with all others within close proximity of metro beaches.

Which is why you should probably stay out of the water. Then the shark lives, you keep your calf muscle and I get more waves. Everybody wins!

Surfers used to be respectful of the ocean. Things have changed.

The "logic" has gone soft and yes things have changed.

The issue is sharks have been protected for too long and now look at what we have created.......

Surely it cant hurt to just pop a few off?

The problem that is being experienced at Toms is a different issue than what we had with Great Whites. I don't think people should couple the two together and say just kill the sharks.

Bronze whalers aren't endangered in anyway so thats the biggest difference from a Great White. But none the less they are creating a issue that IMHO needs to be seriously addressed. I don't agree with just killing, firstly because i don't believe its just one shark, id say we could be seeing different sharks everyday but what i would like is for Fisheries to Tag a few, find out what the story is. Don't just do nothing because IMHO someone eventually will get bitten. I know everyone says they are just bronzes, but i have never seen anything like what we are seeing now. Reports of Bronze whalers are popping up from Spot down reasonably often now.

I have had a interest in sharks for over 35 years, never heard anything like this. Im not saying its hasn't happened but that i haven't heard of it.

Fisheries after 4 weeks have put up a sign, thats honestly rather limp response to date IMHO..

My biggest concern with the cull was killing off large sharks that are slow to breed will/could leave a vacuum for smaller fast growing aggressive sharks. The cull killed around 170 large sharks over three meters from Freo to Hillarys. How much ground could a 4.5 m tiger hold and could we be seeing a start of what could be to come

I thought it would take many years to see any effect, but maybe its starting sooner rather than later. But until fisheries start to tag some more, we will have no info at all..

Im not saying this is what is happening, but id like something to prove my theory wrong, even if its others saying "Nope I've seen bronzes this thick in the past".

Aren't sharks meant to be succeptible to certain electrical fields or whatever these shark deterrent devices work on.
Couldn't they set up something of the sort and bombard the area with whatever it is that they don't like, and old sharkey might decide to move on and find a more pleasant place to live?
Kinda like a nagging wife effect but in shark terms?

Perhaps all of the devil fish have turned to seaweed for nutrition? These monsters of the deep who have trespassed into the parts of the ocean where we chose to recreate on occasion have appeared to give up on their murderous plan of world domination! Don't trust them! They will be driving cars soon and believe me that's when the trouble starts!!
