Does anyone know who will be paddling what boards
Sounds like it will be Starboard v SIC v C4.
Will be interesting to see if the guys on the Aces can match it with the Bullets.
What is Jamie paddling
Go Sam and big Pete

You might find there is a LK (Kelly) DC (Beau) and and a JM (Jamie) in that mix also. Who is on the SIC? Sam?

Will be very interesting to see if Connor does as well as everyone expects.

I'm a bit confused to Adam all this hype and looks like less enters then last year almost.. Does anyone know if there is a lot of people missing off the start list or was it just that....all hype??

Don't forget you can still register tonight, the online rego is closed. I remember Galvo, Scotty all that crew registered on the night and it took them less time than the rest of us who had pre-registered as they had a seperate line. Easy to do if you have your own transport and allows for a call to be made up to the last minute if your going to do it.

I think given the lack of wind the Aces have a slight advantage based on board alone. Lets be honest it is at least 80% paddler regardless of what board they on.

I'm thinking there is a board made here on the Goldy that loves this stuff more than any of the others that I know of, low nose volume to deal with cross winds, very fast bottom config, fast in flat and bump. Also helps that there is a machine on board.

Go Red Kelly!

Don't know about Connor but I'm pretty sure those guys wouldn't spend more money than a trip to Hawaii to come over and watch someone else take the $3000 because of wind direction.

The 14' class will be a great race no matter if it was paddling laps in a 50m pool.

Guy's,
As the major SUP sponsor of this event it is a little disappointing to read some of the negative comments about the race and conditions.
Over this season we have put up tens of thousands of dollars in prize money right across the country with a view to raise the profile of SUP in Australia and also help bolster entrants to our pet event here in Perth. We were the major sponsor of twenty beaches in Sydney where three guys won airfares to the Doctor and Peter Meyer won an airfare and a new SUP that he picks up tomorrow morning.
If individual paddlers do not wish to enter Saturdays race as the conditions may not be ideal then fair enough, but comments on this forum has influenced other paddlers to not enter or question coming to Perth and this is not helping our sport.
It is important that guys that want to see international and east coast paddlers over here competing that they help support the events if not by entering but by being positive in comments or information supplied.
With $10,000 cash up for grabs and the chance to paddle with paddlers like Connor, Bart, Annabel, Jamie, Lincoln, Jacko, Angie, Travis, Kelly, etc. it is an event worth supporting, is it not?
If paddlers don't support events, they won't end up getting this kind of financial support in the future and we won't get the internationals or east coast guys over here. So how about we get some more local support, we are more than happy to help anybody looking for a board to enter.
A challenge is always good.
Cheers,

Ian

hi ian, i think you are taking it to the heart to much. its just speculation and its a public forum. people are always going to debate race conditions

a fit serious paddler is going to do the race regardless and to be honest most of the top crew don't even go on the breeze.

if some are backing off they probably aren't up to it and probably saving the safety team extra work. it's is a long race.

the seabreeze sup forum will be following this race very carefully- don't worry about that

speaking of, is there any live media of the race?????

cheers

Good comment Ian can you influence the two day waiting period to be enforced? as many would go in if they stuck to their claims on the website.

These conditions will make the racing tight. Once they go around the Fairway buoy and head towards the Rottnest Pines I thinnk the race will hot up (sorry). It is probably about 10K to go from there and they might have the bommies helping them if they get a little puff towards the end. Would love to be watching this race from a boat. Should be an epic battle with so much talent ... and money on first place ...My pick...Connor to just pip Kelly...(with Sam pushing for a top 3...)

The Rottnest graph is still showing NNW 16-19 knots, a true Doctor SB is SW-SSW so it has still got more than 90 degrees to come around.

Im guessing the breeze will still be pretty much coming over competitors left shoulder for most of the race, so it will be a hard slog in the humid conditions.

One thing have learnt from living in Perth all of my life is despite forecasts you never can tell when the Doctor is about to arrive so with a little luck there may be some welcome relief at some stage on the run home.

Edit: I went back to the graph as soon as I had written above and it is now showing 18-21 NW so it has come around a bit in a few minutes.

Think they may be running the course straight to sorrento and skipping the fairway bouy to make for a better angle.
