I took a photo of our lean to this arvo. This is what I mean by vertical - the boards are stacked up against the wall - and all are off the ground. I guess it's not as neat as your board rack boylos, but I have older kids with bikes, fishing rods, bins and other sh!t stored in there as well and can still walk through.

I can see why your've done it your way. But the way I've done it is for boards only ,plus I get another storage shed at the end of the board shed.
I couldn't move in my garage ,basically I was tripping over boards to get to the beer fridge!
These kids accumulate a lot of stuff!

Just for the record. I worked for the Council in Boylos' local area for 7 years. The criteria is now 'State' wide and not 'Local' so what I use in my area is mirrored in Boylos' Shire.

Hope your've resigned or been sacked ...... otherwise I'm in the ****!

I've been tossing up a bunch of options for a board shaping shed and a seperate board storage shed (and other stuff as well). My problem is I need to get planning permit, building permit, dispensation for easment, neighbours aproval, special building overlay crap it's getting all too hard. Probably almost $1000 before I even buy a nail!

But if I manage to stick with it and it all goes ahead, I'll be stoked!

I love what everyone else is building. Boards need their own house just like a dog needs a kennel.

I'm hearing you and it is crap - we are living in a frickn Nanny state - Rules, Rules, Rules and more fricken rules. All to pay bean counters who don't give a rats anyway. Ask any tourist here what they think about the number of signs in Australia that tell you what you can and can't do - it's become quite insane.

One owner previous to the guy we bought our Avalon (Sydney, NSW) house from, he had Plumbing Racks very similar to this erected on the back wall to my internal "surf racks", his were bang on the property line...... no-one gives a sh!te, if you keep to yourself.......

"Surf animals", take your council hat off, and give "boylos" a fair go.... his racks are all but below the fence line... who really give a sh!te.....

"boylos" if I was your neighbor, I'd be asking you how the surf was, and if you've found any spots you want to share with me.....

bla bla bla....

Your neighbour has a valid issue as an internal fire in yours, branches to the 'lean to' on the boundary and has direct access to his property.....I've seen it happen - actually pulled a body out of a dwelling due to a neighbouring fire which hopped when in the cops.

bla bla bla

As I said, you would probably get on well with my neighbor. If you don't like it work with the old coot and loby council to demolish it. AFAIC our 'Lean To' is perfectly legal, without a permit, gutter and built right up to the neighboring fence.

Internal fire - what drugs are you people in council taking?

I've seen an awesome set-up in Kauai with no approvals, by a fairly well known shaper. He only added foam dust extraction for his own well being, plus added ease of cleaning.... additional winner was the environment..... but he basically flies under the radar of the EPA, as do many other small/medium sized hand shapers. When the boys move over to machine shaping of blanks, those set-ups are usually well equipped with foam dust extraction, etc...
