It's going to be great viewing of the Billabong Pro Tahiti this weekend online or on Fuel TV.

From tomorrow onwards 8' + growing to maybe 15' on the weekend. It will be very interesting to see which of the top 44 actually take it on, who pulls out and who dissapears...

The pressure is on, not only the heaviest wave in the world but also the mid point of the season where the bottom 1/2 of the tour falls off tour, some of those guys have their careers on the line.

It's gonna be good......

you thinking? his reply was unchanged, bring it on.Geez I love
Parko go mate

He also said,if you don't make the drop be prepared to cop two
on the head, knowing the safety guys are close bye he has no problem.
Just go Parko as you do.

I can't believe they've been calling "lay days" during swell that's 5-foot. It didn't get nearly that big at J-Bay. Jordy Smith has suggested that the ASP might want to consider a first-ever tow-in event for the World Titles. It'll be amazing to watch if this 15-foot swell materialises.

I won't be holding my breath while watching it in front of my PC. I'll be mumbling "hail mary's" to all those blokes "holding their breath" after getting smashed onto the reef. Parko's being cool, but I think this week is finally Taylor Knox's to show off a bit of experience.

Is it not a shallow reef pass,I don't think holding your breath will be the issue..

hmmm, if some pull out, so be it. they have still surfed waves you and i wouldn't dream about going out in.

if they don't want to be out there whats the point. their men, they can make their own minds up

having middle aged has beens that never were beens(99 % of the general surfing public), hanging out to see who 'chickens out' and sniggering at them is just pathetic imo

thats will see me red for sure

ya its a scary spot but also at stake is the rest of the years world ratings. One has to weigh the risk vs points lost. I have been here on a 3-5 foot day and let me say its heavy man. My first wave slammed into the reef. Wave two was huge tube came out clean, as was the next few then got pitched and slammed again into the reef this time came up bleeding and rashes up. heavy is the word!!!!

The report I was just looking at is calling 10+ with a couple of 15 footers thrown in every now and again....should make for good watching as guys try to scratch into 10 footers all while looking over their shoulders to see if they are about to get mowed by a big one.....anyone remember Gary Green and Bryce Ellis (I think ) not paddling out at Waimea for the Billabong Pro in the 80's? Rob Bain did paddle out and promptly got mowed by a 30ft set and nearly drowned....

For those above the cut off they can drop an event. This is the mid way though so if you are below the bubble this event is the last chance to get points and stay on tour.

Imagine trembling with fear watching gnarly Chopes not wanting to surf it but knowing if you don't and do a better job than the other bloke in your heat that your surfing career could well be over.

My money is on KS for this one. His session at Cloudbreak would have set him up nicely for heavy Teahupoo. Go hard or go home - all the pros know that.

I'm on the other side of the planet, in Ghana, now so will have to miss most of the live action.

Yes, and I wont have a chance to surf this time either, which is a bummer as there are good spots here. It's pumping at JBay today so I will miss that swell too. Can't complain as I've had a pretty good year so far. Might get lucky in Kenya in a few weeks, tho, so there is still hope of some "African Perfection" yet. I hope you scored that last swell on the Goldie.

Just watched Ace Buchan get a 9.9 for a take off and barrel no turns. It wasn't overscored let that give you an idea how heavy it is and the commitment he showed.
